Skytree Cafe 340 — Restaurant in Tokyo

RACISTS!

I visited the Tokyo Skytree on 16 December 2023. After viewing the tembo deck, I came down and saw the cafe. I stood in line to enter just like everybody. Everybody in the line was allowed inside except me.

When it was my turn, the staff showed me a paper that said I had to reserve a seat prior to be allowed inside. I found that a bit odd. Who reserves a seat prior in a cafe?!?

I checked their website. They have not mentioned anything about people requiring a prior reservation. The only thing they mention is that seating maybe limited when there are large crowds. The day I went, I could see a lot of empty seats.

It seems like they only want Japanese and white people to enter the cafe. I will spend my yen someplace that will not discriminate against me just because I am Indian.

I really hope your cafe gets new staff that are...

I waited in the line only for a few minutes, before I could order. After that, I walked in and the only free places were at the tables in the back, which are not placed directly at the windows. I was bummed, but before my order was ready, a nice lady came and told me a spot at the window was freed, and I could move there. I was happy to eat, while watching Tokyo at night, from far above. I don't understand how all the people around me could stare at the phone, even there, instead of watching the city through the window. Food was tasty, I had the burger with bread and a glass of Coca-Cola. Bread was fresh out of the oven, still warm. And I paid only 2000 yen, which is...

We tried to attend the Genshin Impact collab cafe - I read the whole website and purchased our tickets a month in advance and never anywhere it was mentioned you needed a reservation to go to the cafe; only a mention that the cafe could be busy. Well, despite half the tables being empty, we were turned away upon arrival with no option of making a reservation on the spot or mention of how to do it later. Japan likes to make it tough for foreigners....
