Have always been sure that Japan serves only the best food no matter where I go, but I was proven wrong. Truth to be told, if I were to be able to rate this 0/5, I'd do so. Of all my trips here in Japan, I've always been giving only 3 stars and above, but this place was shockingly bad. Walked pass this place yesterday and was intrigued by the menu, so me and my family decided to drop by today for an early dinner. Despite not having a reservation (at 5.15pm), we were given a table and was told that they'd need the table back at 6.30pm (which we appreciate, and was fine with it as long as food gets served fast, since we're fast eaters). But things started to go down-hill from there.
Water wasn't served to our table unless we requested for it. Not sure if it's a thing they did only for foreigners, but every other table (locals) were served water after orders were taken.
Cocktails were really bad. Like a bad mix of ratios, and all we could taste were a super bitter mix.
I Think the best was the avocado cerviche (though there were barely much avocados to be seen, at least they tasted perfectly seasoned and good). But this place is like a semi-casual dining restaurant, you could tell that the corner of the plate wasn't even cleaned from the sauces that had dripped when plating this cerviche. It was so messy despite it being plated properly.
The innards stew were really under seasoned. I think perhaps they were supposed to reduce the sauce abit to make it thicker? But all I had was a hot plate of water tomato innards stew.
Lamb was tender, but filled with veins. 3pcs of perfectly fried potatoes that were ruined with no seasoning (at all). And miserable 2pcs of brocollini that were overly charred till black.
The shrimp and squid paella was super unseasoned, no flavour at all. And u could tell that the prawns were not fresh anymore. Because when they cooked the prawns (with it's head), the heads were all black (not the usual fresh orange red).
And the worse, was the end part when we were given the bill. We found out that we were charged for 'coperto'. Are you serious? In a regular restaurant setting, to charge for coperto, you would at least be served with some bread with olive oil. This restaurant didn't even do that. And I was charged for it per head at the table!
The restaurant should seriously put this at the store front or let the customers know about it before we enter this place. It's literally a scam. I honestly feel scammed. With food like this, it's seriously not worth it. A restaurant setting food and yet, tastes worse than saizeriya.
My most disappointing meal in Japan.
I hope this post gets to everyone before they too feel that they're scammed. Because, I don't want them to have their food experience turn bad in a place like Japan (a country which is known...
Read moreCharging 350 yen per person for coperto which I don't get bread, olive oil and balsamic was pretty ridiculous. The pepper and salt was already on the table so I have no idea what I paid for.
The first item we ordered was the fish and avocado ceviche, The taste was alright, freshness was alright but the plate was not wiped down. This shouldn't have left the pass.
The callos was not salted and I don't see any chickpeas or sausage. It was just offal and tomato water. Definitely needed to be cooked down more.
The spiced lamb was seasoned well and the doneness was perfect. But the fat and meat ratio was unbalanced. The sinew was tough to eat, skinny broccolini was burnt and fibre not peeled off, potato wedges was not seasoned and the tiny speck of sauces was not enough for the meat. Top it off with a huge stalk of cress. This dish was an embarassment.
Our last dish was the shrimp and squid paella. The larger shrimp was not fresh. Probably was in the chiller for a long time based on the color of the head. Also the back was cut open but the sand line was still intact. How?! The tiny shrimp was rather weird with the shell intact and all. If it was deep fried then cooked in the paella then it would have been more crunchy. The overall taste and the side crust of the paella was ok but it's going to be a hard pass.
The service was not attentive enough. We need to ask for menu and ice water. It wasn't even a full house during the time we spent there.
This restaurant looks good from the outside but couldn't do what they were supposed to do. It was a disappointing meal and the best thing I had was the alcohol. I wouldn't recommend anyone to...
Read moreQuite a disappointing experience.
My fried calamari was too chewy, the portion of pasta with bolognese was so small my skinny 13 yrs old daughter was still hungry after eating it. My potatoes came first, several minutes later my calamari, and the rest of the food came over 5 minutes later. My food was cold by the time my daughters got their food. They never once refilled our glasses of water, or gave any kind of attention besides minimum (order, deliver food). They were not full, actually the restaurant was on the empty side.
And YET we were charged a "table charge" of 400 yen per person, which we were not told about ahead of time. I understand some restaurants need to charge it, but then I expect a certain level of service to come with it. Water refills, table attention, timing of the food arrival.
Again, they were almost empty and they are not a small, family run restaurant with a tiny kitchen. I'm not sure what's their excuse.
Side note - The restaurant was noisy even for our European ears. The music is a bit loud, so the costumers have to speak louder to compensate.
Overall, even through it is conveniently located I regret...
