May 2024: My partner and I stayed only one night at Ueno Touganeya Hotel to be close the Keisei Skyliner station to Narita airport for our flight the next day. The location of the hotel is great! Right by Ueno station and area with everything you'd need. The service was friendly - they let us leave our luggage with them before check in and they even put our suitcases into our room for us already when we returned to check in later in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I cannot give the same praise for the room itself. We stayed on the 2nd floor, in the very first room directly across the elevator. It was small as expected, but it did not have any natural light as the one window faced directly to the wall of a neighboring building - it is so close you can literally reach out and touch it. This means there was no natural light coming into the room. We also saw what looked to be possible mold on the shower curtain and a stain (blood?) on the blanket covers, which was very unpleasant. I hope the other rooms are better, but based on our experience here, I would not book it...
Read moreI stayed at Ueno Touganeya Hotel during the cherry blossom season, and it was the perfect choice for my Tokyo trip. The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from Ueno Station, which made getting around the city extremely easy. Despite being so central, the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. They spoke good English and provided great recommendations for nearby attractions and dining spots. My room was clean, compact, and thoughtfully designed with all the essentials. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless.
One of the highlights was being within walking distance to Ueno Park, which was absolutely breathtaking with all the cherry blossoms in full bloom. It felt like a dream to wake up early, grab a coffee, and stroll through the park surrounded by pink petals.
Overall, Ueno Touganeya Hotel offered excellent value, comfort, and location—especially during sakura season. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Tokyo...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Ueno Touganeya Hotel during my trip to Tokyo, and overall, I had a decent experience.
The hotel's location was definitely a highlight, as it was conveniently situated near Ueno Park and various transportation options. The area around the hotel was also quite lively, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions to explore.
The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating, and I appreciated their assistance with my inquiries and requests. They also provided helpful recommendations for local activities and dining options.
However, the hotel itself felt a bit dated and in need of some renovations. The decor and furnishings were a bit worn, and I noticed some wear and tear in the room and common areas.
Overall, I would recommend the Ueno Touganeya Hotel for its location and service, but keep in mind that it may not be the most modern or luxurious accommodation option...
