Decided to try this restaurant for dinner since it seemed like a popular spot for locals, but we were not impressed with the quality of the food or service. We were immediately told to wait outside for a table outside. Another local group arrived after us and were seated immediately inside.
Service was very slow. When my tuna sashimi finally arrived, it was extremely unappetizing with an abundant amount of connective tissue on most pieces and even strings of connective tissue hanging off the pieces of tuna. Honestly the premade tuna sashimi bowls at the grocery store had better cuts of tuna than what I was given here. I was hesitant to eat more of the tuna sashimi when I noticed white spots on the tuna. The giant fried shrimp we ordered were overcooked and rubbery. By the time the grilled mackerel came out 20 mins later, I no longer had an appetite and questioned the freshness of the seafood.
When I asked the manager about the cuts of tuna (we had to track down our waitress after asking another waitress to find her) and how they weren’t good cuts of tuna and how they didn’t seem fresh (referring to the white spots found), I was told that it was fine to eat. I expected better customer service than what we were given. Instead, we paid a large amount for food that was inedible. Definitely gave us the impression that we were treated this way because we were foreigners. This was by far the worst restaurant we went to in our 2...

I went to Tokyo in February and stayed in Shinjuku. I found a hidden but delightful sashimi shop (ᵔᴥᵔ). Although the menu was entirely in Japanese, you can ask the staff for menus in Chinese and English! It's about a 6-7 minute walk from Kabukicho Ichiban-gai ♂️ —————————————————— The raw fish was really fresh and had a melt-in-your-mouth feeling, and the cuts were thicker than usual. The sea urchin is also highly recommended (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) Although the rice in the assorted seafood bowl was slightly wet, it did not affect the overall quality at all because their sashimi was of a high standard

It was bad enough that I had to ask another waitress to get our original waitress. The food was slow to come out and nobody checked on us unless we reached out.
Slow service isn't the end of the world but when it's combined with food that wasn't good, it really hurts. The tuna sashimi in particular wasn't a good cut, had white spots on it in numerous places, and the fried jumbo shrimp were really overdone.
I try to look on the bright side of most things but this is a place that I would avoid unless you're willing to...
