Te～hanmingu Shinokubo Korean Restaurant — Restaurant in Tokyo

I came here for dinner with my partner. From the beginning, we were informed that the last order for food would be at 10:00 PM and for drinks at 10:30 PM — which we respected. As Europeans, we also expected a certain level of politeness and hospitality, especially in Japan, where these values are usually held in high regard.

However, immediately after we were served dessert, one of the staff members abruptly dropped the bill on our table without a word. Shortly after, we were clearly told that we had to leave — it felt like we were being kicked out. We didn’t even have time to enjoy our dessert. The mango sorbet was so deeply frozen that we needed to wait for it to soften a little — but we weren’t even given the chance. We never got to taste it.

Even worse, one of the staff members reached to take a drink out of my partner’s hand while he was still drinking. I had to stop him and say, “Wait a minute — this is not okay.”

Regardless of how the food was or how the other waiters behaved, this kind of rudeness is unacceptable — especially from someone who works in hospitality. It’s not the customer’s job to educate staff on basic manners. Because of that experience, I can only give this restaurant one star. I absolutely do not recommend it. In a city like Tokyo, which thrives on tourism and gastronomy, basic courtesy should be non-negotiable. Never again.

パートナーと一緒に夕食のためにこのレストランを訪れました。最初に、料理のラストオーダーは午後10時、ドリンクは10時30分と説明され、それを守って注文しました。私たちはヨーロッパ出身であり、日本では礼儀やおもてなしが重視されていると期待していました。

しかし、デザートが出された直後、あるスタッフが無言でレシートをテーブルに置いて去っていきました。そしてすぐに「もう出てください」と言わんばかりの態度で接されました。まるで追い出されているような気分でした。

特に残念だったのは、デザート（マンゴーソルベ）を全く食べられなかったことです。あまりにも凍っていて、少し解けるのを待たないと食べられない状態でした。でも、待つ時間すら与えられず、ソルベには一口も手をつけられませんでした。

さらに、スタッフの一人がまだ飲みかけだったパートナーのドリンクを無理やり取り上げようとし、私は「ちょっと待ってください、それはありえません」と言うしかありませんでした。

料理や他のスタッフの対応がどうであれ、このような失礼な態度は飲食業界では許されないと思います。基本的なマナーをお客が教える必要はありません。この経験により、このレストランには星1つしかつけられません。おすすめしません。...

Short sum up: Waiter 1 - Kind - Friendly - Fast 5* Waitress - Also friendly and fast all good 5* Waiter 2 (Maybe owner dunno) 1* at the end - Rude and Angry- came for last order got (already rolling his eyes) the bill on the table after (did not say that they will close soon nothing). We Paid… all good… we were on our phones still with some food and beer left … he came to clean up the table saying we are closed and was already taking the bottles… Anyway… More communication wouldn’t hurt would it? Actually enjoyed it until one point we were also content to find a place with outdoor sitting. Anyway good luck and...

We recently found this place for lunch as it's close to where we were staying. It had some good seating options including tables outside.

We ordered a big plate of spicy chicken, cheese and spicy pork, tofu stew and some rice. It of course came with some ban chan, which is always welcome to have with spicy chicken and pork.

All the food was really tasty and the stew seemed to be part of the specials as it was only about 1200 yen - pretty good...
