One of the waitresses had the most insufferable attitude. First of all, she received us with somewhat impatient tone and came back to our table in less than a minute asking if we were ready to order - we are a group of Asian foreigners who speaks Japanese but communicates amongst ourselves in our mother tongue, turned to her and asked for a moment. As she turned away from our table, her not-at-all-subtly loud voice blasted across the restaurant and reached her co-worker saying ‘they need ‘a minute’ in a sarcastic way; she spoke in a mocking accent in Japanese and thought we did not understand her. We finished our food in about 30 minutes (fast eaters we are) and barely had time to make a little laid-back chit chat; the waitress came back again and this time told us that they were closing soon and we had to leave. She told us they would close at 11 and gestured us the number ‘11’ with her two index fingers as if we were imbeciles. The waitress definitely caught our attentions with her horrific hospitality and we were giving her a lot of eyeing for sure - one interesting finding, we were the only table she made rounds to and told about the closing hour when the premises was still full of other groups. We were asked to leave as soon as finishing our food. Taking another 10 minutes to gather ourselves, the waitress came back with our bill and we were ‘informed’ to go to the register to pay for it while seeing her going to others collecting their bills and money for them. As a group of 5 diners consisting of 4 ladies and a gent, we were very well spoken and polite. We are also a group of 5 Asian foreigners who are well dressed and mannered but somehow the only one treated with the worst hospitality and terrible services while groups of Caucasian foreigners and local Japanese treated with smiles and inviting greetings. This is a restaurant with great food and dining ambience but if you are looking for an enjoyable time and an above moderate service - don’t bother yourself to...
Read moreI came for lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't raining so the outdoor seating was all good. Decor is a bit American diner with a bit of bar vibe. There's like 6 2-person tables inside and one side of bar seats. There is a rain cover over the balcony area but I didn't see it folded out. There's no official queue space or piece of paper to write your name on and people just kind of make one up at the menu. Instead the servers come out to check every now and then to ask how many people are in your group.
I've also been to several other burger places in Tokyo so I'm comparing this place to them. The price on the weekend is pretty high for what you get but there's a proper lunch set on weekdays. I got a chilli cheese burger that ripped right through the paper wrapper and made a mess over my fries. The patty was the thinner type with a proper chew to it so it didn't just break away when I bit into it. Bun didn't taste anything special. Flavor was alright but didn't taste spicy to me. I was also there for roughly 45min from ordering to payment so don't expect it to be fast. Drink was good though.
Maybe have a different burger or something different altogether, and go during the week for...
Read moreAccidentally stumbled upon this little joint after an afternoon of walking around Shibuya (hence hunger) and I am so glad I picked this shop. Or maybe it picked me 😅😅
As I stepped in, embarrassingly, while a strong gust of wind blew my hair up (making quite an entrance), I was greeted with a smile by a female server. She code-switched along w me as I was ordering. The moment I sat down, The Cure played (among other songs that just made my head bop as I was stuffing my face with food). :))) I know the music was just c/o their FM radio station choice, but the sounds definitely made it such an enjoyable stay for me.
I ordered: Teriyaki sliders with fries - a small serving (as expected), which is why I ordered this in the first place, sauce was balanced, medium-rare meat was tender, fries were ok, buns were quite sweet! Hot apple cider - fitting drink considering the cold Sticky toffee pudding - definitely memorable as it was my first time to try and loved it; made the perfect pair with my apple cider as it was very sweet
Overall made for a nice stop for me while in Shibuya. Would definitely go back when I'm...
