DON'T BOTHER! I totally agree and why there are some low rating reviews, especially from (presumably )foreign nationals. I'm a local Japanese, and ordered a coffee and cheese cake set for 1100yen. I happened to be in need of quick reply to my messenger, so I recorded 8 second voice message whilst wearing my mask with very low volume voice. Besides, there was NO CUSTOMERS inside the shop, EXCEPT ME. As I was about to finish my 8 second message, the female waiter rushed back and strongly said' No talking on the phone! ' and repeated the same phrase ‘ NO CONVERSATIONS’ so annoyingly, even after I explained I wasn't having or intending to have any conversation.
Extremely rude way of talking to any customer, given the fact that I assume customers DO normally talk while having coffee, etc. It's up to the shop if they want to have particular rules on mobile device usage. However, it doesn't mean they can refuse to take order or ask customers to leave until customers agree NOT to talk! ( which she did by insisting ‘Do you want your order to go through or leave?') Literally in this manner in Japanese, which sounds super aggressive in Japan.
If they can't tolerate 8 seconds of voice recording while wearing a mask, how come they are happy to ignore dogs barking and people actually having conversation loudly?
Meanwhile, the waitress was hugging and holding a dog and taking one of them inside the shop, and let the dog run around in the shop when I was still having a cake and coffee. Apparently, the shop was allowing the dogs to put their paws on the table and some dogs(plural)are already on the sofa outside, but had no notice of those dogs nor owners loud voices.
Although l saw that there is a device for credit cards, when I asked, the male barista replied’ oh, it’s only for calculating’. What a strange way of introducing mini iPad without actually allowing customers to use for the cards nowadays.
Before raging about a paying customer’s 8 sec voice message with mask on, when there is nobody else around, these waiters should consider washing their hands, and refrain from touching dogs while prohibiting customers to have a conversation.
Maybe, they have no sense of priorities, as the coffee was very lame, small amount, and the cheesecake was too soggy. What a...
Read moreHave your coffee to go, or enjoy it in the cafe. There is a bench just outside where you can watch early morning commuters rush towards the train station. Friendly, hard-working barista (who seems to pull really long shifts!) Speaks a little bit of English. Their menu is written on the board in Japanese as well as in English.
Best of all, they have really great coffee.
Despite what the listing says, I think they open quite early—around 7:30am or 8am. This is one of the few cafes in Shimokita...
I was drawn in by the beautiful interior of the shop. It was my first time seeing a latte made with tea brewed through an espresso machine, so I excitedly ordered one. The delicate aroma of black tea blended perfectly with the incredibly well-made milk foam, creating a truly delicious experience.
The green tea also came with a kind and detailed explanation of its origin, which I really appreciated. Above all, the staff were incredibly friendly—while everyone I met during my trip to Japan was kind, the staff here were the most welcoming.
As a special service, they gave me tea leaves marinated in soy sauce. I had never heard of such a recipe before, and it was a completely new experience for me. It’s a flavor I would love to try again somewhere in the future.
This place is absolutely amazing—comfortable, quiet,...
