I have no idea how to start. Just to preface i am a tourist, it’s my first time in Japan and i am from Vancouver. Japanese food is not uncommon there, and I’ve had my fair share of average katsu. I came with my group of friends and we were seated very promptly. Our server was very kind and professional, and there’s also a call button whenever we needed service. I started my meal with going to the bathroom, the bathroom was a whole experience in and of itself. The toilets were very clean and had no smell (an issue we continuously found depriving our experience in Japan’s restaurants). There were bidets and also cotton swabs and various other feminine products to touch up in there. It was very nice. Our meals came out in about 15 minutes and I ordered the herb sangenton pork thick slice cutlet. It was amazing. The sauce was light and the breading wasn’t too heavy. The meat was the star. The cabbage was so refreshing and the soup was just salty enough with clams. The meal also comes with unlimited cabbage, soup, and radish. This meal was also super affordable. Man just the whole experience was rich. Try this place, I will go back when I come back...
Read moreOnly 4 tables were seated while every other table was covered in dirty dishes. After waiting a for her to clean a few tables while she looked at us confused, she finally sat us but proceeded to ignore us for over 15 minutes as she proceeded to serve several locals that came after us. This was so disappointing because we found them on google with great reviews and this was our first negative experience at a local restaurant during our trip to Tokyo. The nonchalant attitude and dirty environment is the opposite of what we’ve come to expect of Japanese hospitality. A true disappointment. We walked out hungry after being ignored and settled for TGI Fridays right across the street (somewhat out of desperation at that point)… but received friendly kind service and were fed promptly. Thanks TGI Fridays for taking care of us. There are so many better local places to go in Shibuya, DON’T waste...
Read moreWe were on our GPS to catch a late ramen dinner from Shibuya station enroute to hotel. Saw the tonkatsu shop along the way, 1hr to closing time and decided to just go for it without even checking reviews.
Interestingly, there was batter fried horse mackerel which we have not tried before. So we ordered a combo of pork fillet and horse mackerel and a crab cream croquette.
We were surprised rice came steaming hot in a claypot, followed the our order of katsu. We were told we can have refill for rice, cabbage and miso soup. We did not ask for refill, the portion was already generous. Pork fillet was juicy, and fish was deboned so perfectly (except tail end) and balance in flavour, came with grated radish and wasabi. Love every bite, ate more rice than we should with the pickles.
We had an enjoyable dinner. The staff was welcoming and unhurried too even though we left around...
