Vietnam Alice in Tokyo’s Ginza district is an absolute gem. From the incredible flavors to the top-notch service and their thoughtful approach to dietary needs, this place left a lasting impression.
Let’s start with the fresh spring rolls. They were the perfect way to kick off the meal—light, vibrant, and packed with crisp vegetables, tender shrimp, and fragrant herbs. Each bite was fresh and flavorful, and the dipping sauce added just the right amount of punch. A simple dish, but executed beautifully.
Then came the pho—an absolute standout. The broth was rich, aromatic, and full of depth, a perfect balance of spices that made every spoonful a pleasure. The rice noodles were cooked just right, and the meat was incredibly tender, practically melting in my mouth. This wasn’t just a bowl of soup; it was a trip straight to the heart of Vietnamese street food culture.
But what really set Vietnam Alice apart was the service. As someone with a gluten allergy, dining out can sometimes be stressful, but the staff here made sure it wasn’t. From the moment I mentioned my dietary restrictions, they were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, carefully guiding me through the menu and ensuring everything I ordered was safe for me to eat. Their effort went beyond just accommodation—it felt like genuine care.
In a world where dietary needs are often overlooked, Vietnam Alice is a refreshing exception. They prove that great food and inclusivity can go hand in hand.
If you’re in Tokyo and love Vietnamese cuisine (or just great food in general), Vietnam Alice is absolutely worth a visit. The fresh spring rolls and pho alone make it worthwhile, but the warm hospitality makes it unforgettable. Whether you need a gluten-free meal or just want a fantastic dining experience, this...
Read morePlease note, the cuisine, although delicious, is not authentic Vietnamese in flavor or seasoning. Alice is still worth trying, by all means. The dishes are well prepared and beautifully presented with savory, delightful flavors. I suppose you can call this "Japanized" Viet food. And it's quite good food.
We tried the bun bo set and wagyu pho set, along with an order of rau muon xao toi (garlic ong choy). The sets all come with rice rolls with minced pork, spring rolls with pork and shrimp, and Vietnamese egg rolls (the real ones wrapped in rice paper). Those side dishes were legit.
Bun bo included almost all the ingredients it should, it was just missing the extra depth from shrimp paste, which I suppose is not for everyone's palette. And it was a good amount of spiciness.
The pho is another story...but actually a good one. The soup was savory and beefy as you would expect in a good soup. But the pho doesn't have any star anise in it (which arguably is what turns beef soup info pho). Suffice it to say that I am satisfied to call this a good beef noodle soup, but honestly, not pho.
The service was top-notch. Our waitress is so very sweet and helpful. We would definitely come back simply for the friendliness and courtesy we experienced at Alice. Good...
Read moreI went for a late lunch. I was seated immediately and offered water. The serving staff were quick and attentive, filling my water glass as needed. I ordered the spring roll lunch set for ¥1500. It came with raw, fried and steamed spring rolls, a main, a coffee and three sauces for the meal. The sauces were hot sauce, miso sauce and sweet chili sauce, and an accompaniment of cilantro. I didn't want coffee so mango juice was offered instead.
The main choices were a beef noodle soup, tomato and crab noodle soup, fried chicken, chicken curry, seafood green curry and pho.
The spring rolls arrive quickly. They were served in a basket that made them a bit difficult to eat. The raw spring rolls were firm with a nice flavor. The fried spring rolls were tasty by themselves, no sauce required, but tasted equally well with the sweet chili or lemon. I ordered a seperate order. The steamed spring rolls were also very nice. They were chewy and meaty and required no sauce but paired nicely with the sweet chili.
The pho was good. It was a standard broth, a little tangy, a little sweet. The noodles were thick and firm and because the pho bowl was so compact, they stuck together and had to be pried apart. The chicken had a...
