Wolfgang Puck pizza Bar shinagawa — Restaurant in Tokyo

We stopped in for dinner one evening… they weren’t busy at all and sat us quickly. Service was slow and when we ordered our pizzas, my colleague said he doesn’t do dairy and asked for the salmon pizza without cheese. They ultimately brought it without cheese on top, but with the cheesy sauce on the bottom (under the salmon). When he brought this to their attention, they said they don’t honor food allergies there, which seems odd.

My pizza, the pepperoni was just ‘ok’ as the crust was too dense and not very flavorful and the entire pizza was mediocre in flavor. Definitely wasn’t impressed...

If you’ve read any of my other reviews, you’ll know that great service to me is all about the little things: confirming food allergies, offering water even to those who didn’t order drinks, and being thoughtful throughout. I had the Maitake Mushroom with Truffle Sauce pizza, which I expected to be too rich, but it was nicely balanced by the crisp, flavorful crust. I also had the Spinach Salad with Sherry Bacon Dressing—the depth of flavor was unique, something I’ve never tasted before, and I really liked it. We actually went to WP twice while staying in Shinagawa and both times we were very happy with the experience. Servers speak good English, place is trendy and the food is tasty. I can recommend Parmesan fries, top notch calamari, 4 cheese pizza, chicken Caesar salad and spaghetti bolognese. Drinks were tasty and extremely cheap - Paloma only 600yen. The only negative would be the work parties during weekday dinners (Wednesday in my experience) it can get extremely busy and very noisy.
