Drove from Ishikawa to take my family from abroad here. The place was allegedly open, the sign said 営業中and there was an old man inside with the lights on looking at us. I gestured if we could go in and he walked away from the door which was locked. I phoned to ask why because I can speak Japanese and ask him for a reason but he let the phone ring. The man eventually came out and ignored me and closed the door before waving me away while I was talking to him in perfect Japanese. He said go away and locked the door. Read moreSuch a cool spot! Blue Train Coffee Shop is tucked away in Toyama and has that old sleeper train vibe going on. It’s super cozy, full of character, and a great place to kick back with a nice cup of coffee. The drinks are smooth and tasty, and the desserts hit the spot. The owner was really friendly and made some light small talk with us, which added to the warm, welcoming feel. A chill little place to relax and soak up some retro charm.

Read moreThis place has been in operation since 1980. It is a truly unique place and who knows how much longer it will be around. It’s a place that time has forgot.
An old couple, lovely, and hard of hearing run it. Service is slow, but who cares, sitting around watching the trains run through the cafe as you sip on a lovely coffee and bite into a coffee cheesecake cannot be missed.
The paraphernalia on the walls is lovely to look. Watch out for the Pokémon on riding some of the carriages.
