AMERICAN HOUSE — Restaurant in Yokohama

We came for early dinner so there were plenty of seats. There's a fair number of tables further in from what you can see. The decor is kind of eclectic, kitschy American. We enjoyed their play list which seemed to lean 90s pop.

Service was sort of fast but I put it down to being seated in a corner so they couldn't see us. The food arrived in good time, and payment is at the entrance as you leave.

I felt that the menu is quite expensive for what you're getting. We had a look at the other tables who ordered different items and the food just seemed a little on the small side. The taste was average; bun was OK but I think it was the toasting that saved it. We felt like the name of the dish didn't really match up with how it tasted...

桜木町で用事を済ませ、祖母と休憩がてら、コーヒーでもと伺いました。 入店するなり、入口に店員はおらず、少し中に入ってみるも気づかない。 キッチン前で笑いながら男女のスタッフが話していました。 こちらから、スミマセーン！と声をかけて女性スタッフが気づく感じで、そこからこちらにどうぞと言われ、入っていき、お茶ですか？食事ですか？と唐突に聞かれ戸惑いました。 コーヒー飲みたいけど、何かケーキとか軽食あるなら食べたいなと思っていたので… まだ席にも付いてないし、メニューも見せて貰ってなく、コーヒーを飲みたかったので、とりあえずお茶ですと答えましたが、良い印象ではないですよね。

席についたら、男性スタッフがきて、そこで初めていらっしゃいませといわれました。 そこでもまたお茶ですか？食事ですか？と聞かれ…(先ほど唐突に聞かれた意味とは…？) お茶ですと答えたらケーキの説明をしてくれましたが、本日のケーキの在庫など把握していないのか女性スタッフに聞きながら、コーヒーのおかわりできるマークなどの説明をしてくれました。 が、その横でまた男女がべらべらおしゃべりしてキッチンの方にもたれ掛かりながらキッチン内男性も含め3人で話してました。 その真横に私たちがいるにも関わらず。 なんで入口にいないで二人揃ってここでしゃべっているんだろうと疑問でならないです。 入口に一人、キッチンあたりに一人いれば十分回るお客さんの人数でした。

ケーキは、アップルパイとパンプキンケーキにしましたが、どちらも美味しい！という感動はなかったです…。 特に衝撃だったのが、祖母が食べたアップルパイは、見た目大きくて美味しそうだったけど、甘すぎて私たちの口には合いませんでした。 店内のインテリアなどの雰囲気や印の付いているコーヒーがおかわりできる...
