Kurumicco Factory — Restaurant in Yokohama

Located in Yokohama Hammerhead, Kurumicco factory is a popular cafe famous for their caramel 🐿️🌰 First marked this place out because it looked so pretty on google reviews and it seemed to be a must visit when in Yokohama. I’m not the hugest fan of caramel because I don’t have a sweet tooth but it was totally worth coming here. We came after our visit to cup noodles museum and there was a short line during lunch time so we decided to just look at their in store shop and came back slightly later around 2pm and indeed there we got in without having to queue.

The whole cafe smelled so good and we were greeted with very warm service! 🐿️ We got:

🍨The Factory’s Kurumikko Parfait which contained the signature kurumicco caramel with walnuts, salted caramel ice cream, milk ice cream, chocolate mousse and coffee jelly. This was delicious, I loved it more than I thought I would. Their signature caramel with walnut was so fragrant, roasted and sweet but not cloyingly so, I think the way they roast their caramel is something they definitely excel at, the ice cream was stretchy, chocolate mousse was so moth and the slight bitterness from the coffee jelly ties everything together in such a satisfying way. This was an excellent parfait!

☕️ Iced caramel latte, their ice caramel latte was delicious too! Coffee didn’t taste bitter and with the added milk and caramel it became a delicious dessert drink with a roasted sweet profile.

Totally recommend to come here if you want delicious dessert overlooking the lovely view of the Yokohama ferry dock and also have a look at their in house factory where they churn out their precious pieces of caramel! Only sad thing was they were sold out of their caramel when we first got there before the cafe visit if not I would have bought a bunch of those. クルミッ子プレート 200℃のオーブンで温め、焼きたてを再現した「クルミッ子切落し」に、バターとアイスクリームを添えた人気メニュー。2022年、一般社団法人 日本記念日協会へ、「9月30日はクルミッ子の魅力を発信し、みんなでクルミッ子を食べる日」として登録されたのですが、この「クルミッ子の日」に向けた期間限定メニューとして提供されたのが始まり。オンラインショップで抽選販売する「クルミッ子切落し」や「クルミミカップ」とは異なる味わいが楽しめます。ミルクアイスクリームが添えられているのが嬉しいポイント。熱々生地の間からとろっと流れるキャラメルがたまらなく美味しい。香ばしい香りは、美味しさをワンランクアップさせてくれます。通常のクルミッ子より大きめで、クルミも大粒です。アイスを合わせると、さらにゴージャスな味わいになって、あっという間に食べ尽くしてしまいそう。

飲むクルミッ子 2024年4月より、「クルミッ子は飲み物です！」をコンセプトに誕生した新ドリンクメニュー。キャラメルとクルミの味はもちろん、バター生地の風味までもが再現された、まさに飲むクルミッ子。クルミッ子約1.6個分が入っているのです。今回はアイスをオーダーしましたが、冷たくてもすご〜く濃厚な味わい。キャラメルのコクとバター生地のザクザク食感のパンチのある味わいですが、牛乳のスッキリ感もあるので不思議と甘ったるくなく最後まで飽きずに飲めてしまう。なんとかバックスのキャラメル◯◯ペチーノより好きかも。とっても贅沢な美味しさ。 美味しく完食いたしました。

『鎌倉紅谷Kurumicco Factory』は、2019年10月にオープンした工場・店舗一体型のカフェ。スイーツやドリンクを楽しむほか、クルミッ子が工場で製造される様子をガラス越しに見学できたり、ワークショップを体験したりできます。 クルミッ子は、可愛らしいリスのパッケージで有名。メディアやSNSでも話題になることの多い鎌倉を代表するお菓子。神奈川県名菓展菓子コンクールにて最優秀賞も受賞しており、その人気は全国区レベルと言えそう。そんな超が付く人気お菓子なので、カフェオープン前から人が並び、一瞬で売り切れになることもよくあるとか。この日も奇跡的にクルミッ子が買えれば…との思いで出向いたのですが、案の定完売していたのでカフェでクルミッ子を頂くことにしたのです。クルミッ子のパフェ、デニッシュトースト、クルミミカップ、飲むクルミッ子などはカフェならではのメニュー。どれも魅力的で何を注文するか迷ってしまいます。クルミッ子ファンであれば、まずはクルミッ子を購入し、その後カフェでクルミッ子の製造工程を見学しながらクルミッ子スイーツを堪能するのが理想。購入のハードルは極めて高いのですが、いつか達成したいものです。もちろん、普通にカフェとして利用するのもおすすめ。広々したテラスはとても気持ちが良いし、店内も落ち着いた雰囲気で居心地は抜群です。ちなみに、鎌倉紅谷は昨年2024年に70周年を迎えました。1954年創業の超老舗でありながら、パイオニアスピリッツを持ち続けているすごいお菓子屋さんなので、今後も目が離せませんね。

5 stars for how tasty their signature dessert is, minus 4 stars for the lack of availability. We showed up at 1 pm to the store (they close at 8pm), and they were all sold out. They said, “come by noon”. We took a big trip to come again the next day at 11:20 (they open at 11:00) to stand in line…and again they were sold out of their famous dessert!
