Del Mar Comedor Y Terraza is yet another restaurant win in the Huge Club (restaurant group). This is a very beautiful restaurant in the Hammerhead complex with views of the bay. The interior is colorful and festive, and looking at the map of Spain on the wine menu had me musing of a future visit to the country.
The dishes we ordered were extremely creative with really well-thought out and unique seasonings. For example, we ordered the young corn from the seasonal menu. I can’t pinpoint the flavors, but they were incredible and included tiny shrimp in the paste that flavored the corn. The paella is one of the best that I’ve had! There was a creaminess within the crisp of the rice! And the use of, perhaps it was pancetta (?) with the cubes of pork, was so delicious. My husband and I spent quite a bit of time talking about the food and the seasonings while we were eating! That’s a sign of a great meal!!!
In the tradition of Huge Club restaurants, the hours are lunch till closing with no lull in between. I especially love that for dining at odd hours in the day. Also, the grand menu is available all day! The wine menu has a list of bottles for less than 4000¥. The Albariño was fantastic. They also offer wines of various pricing.
Hammerhead is a pleasant walk from the Queen’s Square area/station if weather is accommodating. Since I do not find summer in Japan to often be kind, we opted for the ferry from Bayquarter (in Yokohama station) to the Hammerhead area. That eliminated the oppressive heat and is a good option any time weather is not your favorite.
Reservations were easy to make from my Huge Club member app! We can’t wait to go back and try more tapas and dishes. (Although I will be sad when the corn isn’t on the...
Read moreI recently visited this unique Spanish restaurant, and I must say, the experience was truly exceptional. The restaurant beautifully blends traditional Spanish elements with modern innovation and Japanese precision, creating a dining atmosphere that is both familiar and refreshingly novel.
One of the standout dishes was their take on the classic Spanish seafood paella. Traditionally rich in flavor and texture, this version was elevated with the addition of Japanese mayonnaise, giving it a creamy texture while maintaining the robust taste of the sea. This fusion not only surprised my palate but also highlighted the restaurant's commitment to culinary creativity.
The decor of the restaurant complements the food perfectly, with warm, inviting tones and intricate designs that echo both Spanish and Japanese aesthetics. The seating arrangement, as seen in the photo, provides a cozy yet stylish environment, perfect for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings.
Overall, this restaurant offers a dining experience that is innovative yet respectful of its roots, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to explore new culinary horizons within the comforting framework of...
Read moreThe paella was flavorless. The Basque cheesecake was small, for the price, and was also without much taste. The service was mediocre. Never once were we asked if we needed anything. The wait for our beers was so long that when they finally arrived we were eating our last bite of paella. The sangrias with which we started the evening, were super small and frankly, not...
