A bit off the beaten path but well worth the hike up the side of a mountain to get here. This restaurant only has 20 seats and fills up quickly. We were the first to arrive before they opened and we added our name to the waitlist. When they opened at 11am, we were seated along with the other guests that arrived prior to opening. An English menu was provided which included photos of the popular items (the curry udons). We ordered the red and the white curry udons. Both came in a rich soup/sauce with only the whites of spring onions and what appeared to be pan fried minced meat. Both soups were rich in flavour and tasty. Once you’re done with the udon, the server brings over a small bowl of rice (for you to mop up extra soup/sauce) and a shot of mango pineapple smoothie (not sure if this changes daily/season). Overall this was an exceptional experience with a great view and cooling breeze. Oh ya, they also give you bibs to help mitigate any splashing of soup onto...

it was worth driving zig zag up the hill just for a bowl of Udon. only 20 seats, often, may wait 15 minutes for the table ! the curry was very complex and had a pronounced taste and texture. the contrast with fresh Sansho Pepper was a unique culinary idea too; otherwise, the WHITE is a perfect choice for those who prefer a milder taste. the shop also offer a bowl of steamed rice, and you may clean up the last drop of the curry (but we were really full). check out the sweet too, a good idea that balances the strong taste. when you are in Yufuin, this is on the MUST-DO list ! English menu...

We had an amazing experience at Kikusuke Curry Udon!

Variety: They offer both red and white curry udon, which we loved! Generous Service: At the end of the meal, we got a complimentary bowl of rice to enjoy with the leftover sauce – thoughtful touch! Flexible Ordering: As a family of 4, we were allowed to order 3 bowls of udon, which many restaurants don't accommodate. Great customer consideration!
