Garden Square by Ashaki along City Hall Way is one of those classic Nairobi CBD gems that has stood the test of time. The location is perfect — right in the heart of town, a stone’s throw from City Hall and KICC, making it a go-to spot for lunch breaks, business meetups, or just catching up with friends before heading back into the madness of town.
The place has a relaxed outdoor vibe with plenty of seating and shade, so you don’t feel boxed in like many other CBD eateries. The menu is diverse — from Kenyan staples like nyama choma, ugali, and tilapia, to lighter meals and drinks if you just want something quick. Portions are generous, and the prices are fair considering the central location.
Service is generally quick even when the place gets busy, and the staff are friendly. It’s the kind of spot where you can grab a proper meal without having to squeeze into tiny cafés or wait forever. Bonus: the open-air setting makes it feel less hectic despite being right in the CBD.
Overall, Garden Square by Ashaki is a great mix of convenience, tasty food, and good vibes — a reliable stop in the city centre whether you’re on a work break, meeting friends, or simply recharging before tackling...

Their service still needs a lot of improvement, there's a lot of confusion with their attendees. We made a call earlier before visiting and they lied about several things in their menu. I...
