Pishpek is an unexpectedly massive restaurant nestled in a park zone, boasting a stunning authentic interior with vibrant Central Asian flair. With a variety of seating options, we opted for the terrace, soaking in the gorgeous weather and relaxed vibe.
FOOD:
The menu blends Central Asian and European cuisine, offering a wide selection to choose from. We started with the creamy mushroom soup, which was thick, smooth, and perfectly balanced with the rich flavors of mushrooms and cream—a solid start. The chicken and veal samsas, however, were a letdown; the filling was dry and lacked juiciness, leaving us unimpressed. For mains, the lamb tongues with mashed potatoes were an absolute revelation—hands-down the best I’ve ever had, tender inside with a lightly crisp grilled crust. The mashed potatoes were equally top-notch, silky with a creamy flavor. The salmon was well-prepared with a rich, fatty taste, but it lost its appeal as it cooled, becoming less enjoyable.
SERVICE:
The service was decent but a bit inattentive. Our waiter was friendly, but the restaurant’s sheer size seemed to stretch the staff thin, leading to occasional delays and oversight.
VERDICT:
Pishpek is a great pick for dinner, especially for large groups, with its tasty dishes and inviting atmosphere. The lamb tongues alone are worth a return visit! Despite some misses with the samsas and slightly distracted service, we had a great time and would recommend this spot for its unique vibe and...
Read moreThe restaurant was so beautiful with traditional Kyrgyz design. It's nicely designed with wooden carved doors, frames and tables and chairs. The food was so delicious and beautifully presented. The ambience was very cozy. If you have time, it's not hard to sit there for a couple of hours. By this time you'd probably have noticed that in Kyrgyzstan the people in the service industry don't smile much and it's not a bad sign. It's just what it is normal in the country. Maybe out of respect they want to show they're serious about serving you, who knows. Also in this restaurant they didn't smile so much. But they'll serve you at your table like pouring water into your glass. The place was so clean and they also have some pictures and maquette that tell story about Bishkek (previously called Pishpek) and its heroes. So you can also learn about the history while...
Read moreWhat is this ? A restaurant or a cancer and music club ?? For a restaurant: food ok, service absolutely underwhelming.. they cannot serve the dishes for four people at the same time .. then on top had to wait one hour for two dishes while the others got theirs within 20 minutes.. when the late one arrived after we asked many times, it was like warm almost cold… they don’t pay attention to details e.g. cutlery, dishes only half of it was prepared, others were missing half of it ..
And the worst is the music and the live music - it is so loud and just horrible (!j that you cannot hold a conversation without yelling.
They don’t get what a...
