"We were eager to try La Primavera in Vientiane, Laos after hearing about it, especially because of our craving for Ravioli. The ambiance of the restaurant was charming at first glance, somewhat resembling a cozy family home filled with lively children.
Regrettably, our craving for Ravioli remained unfulfilled as it was not listed on the menu. The wine we chose could have used a bit more body, as it felt a bit too diluted. The energetic environment, while charming, might be more comfortable for patrons if the lively children were slightly more supervised.
Our selections for the evening were the Spaghetti Bolognese, Pesto Pasta, and Pumpkin Soup. Unfortunately, we found ourselves waiting for about an hour for our meal. During such an extended wait, an offering of bread or similar appetizer might enhance the dining experience.
The food arrived in sequence, starting with my Spaghetti Bolognese. It might have been more appropriate to serve my wife's vegetarian dish first since we were unable to share our meals due to the differing dietary preferences.
The Pesto Pasta and Pumpkin Soup left us longing for a more robust flavor. The pasta's pesto seemed a bit subdued, and a smaller portion with the same amount of sauce might provide a better balance. The pumpkin soup, on the other hand, lacked the rich, creamy consistency we were expecting, reminding us of the more satisfying version we enjoyed at Sinouk Cafe nearby.
The Spaghetti Bolognese was served generously, but more sauce and fewer onions would better suit our palate for a more classic Bolognese flavor. These are all dishes we often prepare at home and, while we appreciate the efforts of the chefs, we found that we missed the rich flavors and textures we're used to from our own kitchen.
Our experience at La Primavera had its charms, but there are areas where adjustments could significantly enhance the culinary experience. We hope our feedback is taken constructively as we believe...
Read moreThe food is good but the service really needs some improvement. 15 minutes to get a menu, 15 minutes for someone to take my order. I called 2 waitresses to let them know I was ready to order and I was ignored. I saw waitresses ignoring other customers too. I ordered a pizza and 20 minutes after my order a waitress came to me and asked which pizza I ordered, it seemed like they didn’t put the order through. She then brought 2 pizzas to my table and asked which one was mine. I said the marguerita and she placed the marguerita on my table, but no cutlery or napkins on the table. I don’t know what happens behind the scenes but the waitresses all seemed stressed out and afraid of talking to foreign customers. I saw other customers also being completely ignored...
Read moreGo there for the food! There isn’t any atmosphere, the food is slow to come BUT I really enjoyed my food there! To be honest I have been bluffed as I wasn’t expecting that good. I had a very tasty duck breast with its prune sauce and baked spinach and cheese that were to me a little bit too cheesy but tasty as well. The duck was served with mashed potatoes which tasted delicious. I do believe the rest of the menu being tasty. The personnel is nice and the manager speaks English and could recommend me what to order as I was alone hesitating between 2 dishes and almost taking one that was more appropriate for sharing or if I was going to eat only that one (I liked his professionalism). You...
