This wonderful café serves up the best Parisian style baked goods and coffee we’ve had in our four months in Southeast Asia. We got a little addicted and returned several tomes during our visit.
All the baked goods looked amazing, and the “test croissant” we bought on our first visit was absolutely on point.
We returned the next day and shared their Brunch Set. Everything in the set was fabulous, with special mention awarded to the delicious smoked duck. The luscious butter, the perfectly sweet strawberry jam, and the luxuriously rich latte were perfect accents to the two croissants.
And just for fun we ordered an apple pie - which was off the charts good!
Brunch set: 128000 kip (CDN $8.50) is a steal of a deal. Apple pie: 32000 kip (CDN $2.15)
The Special Croque Madame was delicious, but a big portion and very rich. We could have shared this between the two of us and been satisfied.
They have a good selection of custard and fruit pastries - we loved the blueberry most of all. The Pain De Chocolat had incredible quality chocolate.
There’s also a fridge with air-tight packaged cheeses, pate and deli meats. We bought a baguette, a Comte cheese, pate, a variety package of deli meat, and a bottle of wine. They were kind enough to slice up the bread and lay out our charcuterie choices so we could enjoy our picnic on their patio. They even brought us a bucket of ice to keep our wine cool.
Don’t miss out on a visit to these folks if you find yourself in Vientiane.

Read moreI was generally disappointed of bakery in this town in view of its relatively metropolitan and the biggest city in the country. In cafes, all the pastries were not made or baked fresh. They were merely baked elsewhere probably centrally and served cold in cafes. We have couple of pastries, apple pie and a au choc almond pie, a French roll and a cup of latte, in this little cafe beside our hotel. It atmosphere was quite nice and charming, though in door was quite stuffy and we have to sit outside beside a heavy smoker who never ending puffing and coughing. The pastries and roll tasted not bad but cold. They would be much much better if being heated for a few seconds in a toasted oven. The latte was very good on the other hand, strong and smooth. P/s: haha, and they charged us for butter and jam...
Read moreAfter going for breakfast at La Terasse a couple of times I thought I would try Café Vanille just across the road .. this became my go to place in the morning for breakfast , they serve pretty much the same as the other place , the staple eggs & ham , little salad , half a baguette , coffee & a small glass of orange juice . but the ham was better quality , the café latte tasted fresh , it was a little cheaper & you didn't have to pay for a knob of butter like across the road ,,, I didn't actually try anything else here but all the food that was served looked nice & appetising .. I would always go to the excellent " CoCo Café " further up the road for Dinner of which I have written a separate Review...
