Tipsy Elephant Vientiane Rooftop Lounge — Restaurant in Vientiane Capital

Me and my partner got there for 5pm when they opened, lucky enough to get a good table. Note; most of the tables are high chairs therefore they are not the most comfortable. We ordered a beer and cocktail. They came, they were nice. A staff member took our order, we ordered two starters and two mains. We ordered garlic pepper chips and chicken wings for starters. Our chips came out cold, but we still ate them. chicken wings nowhere to be seen. About 10 minutes later our chicken wings came out together with my main (spaghetti bolognaise) I also asked for no cheese on my spaghetti but there was cheese on it. no sign of my partners main. He ate most of the chicken wings and I didn’t want to eat as i didn’t want to be rude. We asked for an update and she said fish and chips will take 10 more minutes. We didn’t order fish and chips he ordered a club sandwich. They were confused and as were we. I asked for the bill we got up and left. I asked to speak to someone with better English but unfortunately there was no one. Very high price for not a proper service. Very disappointed. I don’t recommend for food. But...

Edit. Changed from 5 stars to 1 star. Came here again after about 9 months. And what a change! Very bad drinks. And service was so bad. We ordered 2 for 1 drinks as the waitress herself recommended. One of the drinks they got was super sweet, so I told them that. They took it back and added so much of sour into it that my throat started hurting after a few sips. My teeth too started feeling sensitive. This is unacceptable. Oh, the third drink was brought along with the first two. When asked was that's how they serve the offer. So by the time we took the third drink, it was so watered down and bad as well. When complained to Ms. Chit, she said just "ok, sorry." Last time came 4-5 times. No more.

Good food, great service, nice cocktails, stiff drinks, and awesome sunsets and ambience. A must visit in the vientiane bar scene. I would recommend not going for the 1 for 1 drinks as they seem to make it very diluted and tell many rules on how to order. The 99k priced drinks are more than good! So shaved off one star in drinks for that kind of dilution. And service speed can...

The only reason that I did not give the good 5 stars is because we only had a snack of tipsy (crispy) pork rolls and not a full meal - they were delicious but since we have never had a bad serving of Crispy Pork Rolls anywhere, it’s not fair to give priority to this particular order ( although they were pretty awesome.

What was particularly awesome however was the staff. There were 3 staff looking after or checking-in with us at regular intervals. One particular server, a young gentleman, who barely looked 15, was particularly endearing. He even went a got a large fan, plugged it in and directed it at us - all at a, “ how come you don’t have any fans around” and an “oh boy, it is hot”. Maybe that’s why I had 3 draught beers and my partner, two cocktails - one Mango Passion with Gin, Mango, Lime & Honey, the other a...
