Herrings and dills — Restaurant in Riga

When I'm in Riga it is a must for me to visit this just 7 tables restaurant inside the fish market at least once & has always been the same! It is a classic! Simple fish cooked to perfection and you can taste the herbs in it & is nicely presented. They have a big selection of different fishes. On my last visit the Soljanka soup was a little bit too sweet, tasted like it had ready sauce in it, the one made in china for restaurants - I say this with a reservation -& there was not as much fish in it. I also don't like the salmon as they do not remove the scales & is tasteless. l like the eal. The salad on the plates has always been fresh & the fried potatoes as they should be. Service is fast. Prices? I don't know. I just pay, but for sure much more expensive than the same restaurant back...

The fish we're excellent, you get to see them being cooked behind the counter. The guy who took our orders was unfriendly or maybe it was just the end of a long day for him. Prices low considering what you get. The place is very basic with some Soviet style posters and a mixed clientele of locals and tourists passing by. I think it was 7 Euro for a plate with a generous portion of fried sprats, salad, chips and tartar like dip which was a fine choice. My favorite seafood place in Riga!

The fish are fresh and very tasty! It also comes with many cooking styles!

My personal favorite is Marinated Herring with Baked Potatoes! The seasoning is just enough to complement the potato! Also not overpower the fish so we can still taste the natural sweetness of fresh herring!

The other menus also tasted great! Love the fishes 🐟 🎏🐟🐠 The price is also affordable for such delicious food!
