THEO Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Riga

One the one hand I like Theo on the other I don‘t. I‘ve been there twice, once for lunch the other time for breakfast. The service was always good, they were friendly and helpful. The terrace is also very pleasant, relaxing as well as very suitable for people watching. Although food and drinks were partly exceptionally good, some parts of it were still very disappointing. First the Caesar Salad I had for lunch was rather small, I‘d have appreciated more lettuce or a few tomatoes or radishes. The Pavlova afterwards was very good with exceptional sauces, nevertheless usually the egg white of a Pavlova is not that hard, basier like - maybe made weeks before - but freshly made on the day. Regarding the eggs Benedict for breakfast, with the sauce they came with a lot of fat, as is to be expected. They were delicious! Only the grapefruit juice was an disappointment. I‘d ordered a big juice expecting twice the size of a normal (600ml, at least the price was double), I don‘t think the quantity of 600ml was met. Also, the juice was exceptionally sour, as someone had mixed halve of the freshly squeezed grapefruit with artificial lemon juice. Overall, a good location, but maybe only partly...

Found this restaurant whilst on a stag of 13 on sat 6th June. Arrived and the place was empty maybe 5/6 tables of customers. Took our drinks and food order. 15 mins later another stag group of about 10 turned up and ordered. After 20 mins I asked for our drinks. 8 mins later they arrived. Still waiting on our starters the mains arrived. We had been sat down for 1hr 15 mins. The other stag had eaten and were going. We started to eat finished whilst still waiting on a fillet steak with peppercorn sauce. It arrived 35 mins later than ours and the reason was of the peppercorn sauce. When the bill came they charged extra for drinks that we didn't have and would not take off the steak although it was 35 mins late. That was our first drink of the day. How can a peppercorn sauce cause so many problems. Food for me was OK some said poor. Atmosphere was good because we sat closest to the street. But the service was horrendous. Better...

Came in, the place looks nice. Sat down, ordered pizza with ham and mojito, first they said it wasnt possible. Then she came back, telling us it was possible. Then came back again and said they where out of ham. Fine enough. We tried ordering bruschetta, she told us it wasnt possible because main course was already ordered. (Okay? Super wierd) Then she came back and asked if we wanted the bruschetta, we said we would like it. Then she says "no its not an option" (why bother to ask again?😂) The bartender picked his nose for several minutes (disgusting!) and smells like three days old sweat. Not a great experience.
