This hotel is in good location in old town in Riga. About 100 metres from Riga opera house. Easy to come from Airport by bus.||||Hotel is not very old, modern building, but not new... I don't know how old.||||There is good change to have a very good hotel, but I was quite dissapointed.||- Our room carpet was dirty, in shower was mold or dirt ||- bed was quite low and matris was not very good.||- we can here snooring from other room. And other life...||- first morngin in breakfast there was bread where was mold. I told to the waiter, or what she was, and said that it is not good. She said "Yes it is not" and continue what she was doing! Later she bring more bread, but did not take out old bread.||It was quite interesting that there was not fresh bread, all was toast which can be maybe good for months... Breakfast had many types of food - every morning I wonder how many days those have been there.||||But staff in reception was excelent, very helpfull and polate.||I made our check in from the computer in lobby. It (was in latvian) and I suppose it said that was not safe, because browser was old. That cannot be very...
Read moreOverall, this hotel really means well. The staff with whom I interacted were great, and the location in the Old City cannot be beat. ||||Then come the negatives...||||1. The deadbolt lock to my room door could not be turned, so I could not lock the room at night.||||2. On two occasions, I did see a few very tiny white bugs crawling in the bathroom doorway. ||||3. The breakfast buffet - while very much welcome and with an extremely decent selection - was largely cold because the warming trays did not seem to have functional gas burners.||||4. The WiFi in the hotel is horrible, to the extent it exists at all. You may get lucky in the lobby - you can forget about the rooms. ||||Are any of these dealbreakers? No. That's precisely why I did not raise these issues with management during my stay. And the price I paid for the room was very good. But if the hotel is going to be touted as a 4 star hotel, I think that is extremely misleading. The effort is there, but the achievement is not even close.||||There are lots of hotels in the Old City. I would suspect that there are better experiences to be had at the same...
Read moreWe booked the hotel as a package with flight to Riga with expedia. Little did we know that it would have been cheaper booking it through booking.com. About 30 euro. And for that price it is originally, you get what you pay for. Under average room with dirty wall to wall carpet, bed who is very low and thin so you feel the bottom on it, and a breakfast that was so simple that you can ask what is point of offer breakfast at all? For the price it was on expedia we would have expect more. We even asked if we could upgrade our room as we could see was vacant at booking site. But the receptionist said it was full. The receptionist was more busy chatting with his friend then checking us in. And what is it with sitting on his chair when guest are there, he also seemed like we where bothering him being guest and asking for help, no serviceminded or smile. Since no upgrade, simple room and bad breakfast we switched the last night to a hotel up the street, 100 euro for one night but with good service, nice modern room and...
