Had a good evening, but were disappointed in the food.
The good: friendly and attentive waiters. Nice atmosphere. Great lager (their own draft).
The not so good: considering how positive the other reviews are, we must have made a poor choice for main course and regretted ordering the Tri-tip sirloin for a sharing meal. We weren't asked how we wanted it cooked, but figured they'd make it medium. However it turned out to be way overcooked. It was well done, which is murdering such a nice cut.
We didn't have time to wait for a new roast, so didn't say anything. Furthermore it was served with only a single small cup of demi glace sauce. Not nearly enough for the whole roast (especially not when it was dry and overcooked), so we asked for more sauce when the cup was empty halfway through. It took a long while to get the sauce and the meat had thus turned cold when it arrived.
After paying the bill and looking at it, we were quite surprised to see that we were charged for extra sauce.
I think we'd have been quite happy with the food, if we'd chosen the spare ribs or burgers. Serves us well trying something probably outside the common menu items...
A tip: Ask how the guests want their meat cooked or else at least make it medium. Plus instead of just a single small cup of sauce for a whole tri-tip, serve it with for example 3 different sauces (and don't charge extra for...
Read moreNice atmosphere, good seating and music. Ordered the veal burger and my friend the sausage which was great. Friendly waiter that recommended beers that fit with the meal. However, when it was time for another beer, i got up and walked to the bar for a recommendation but was told i could not order from the bar. Instead i got told in a very cold and mean way to sit my butt down at my table. No waiter ever came with a beer menu, instead of staying the evening drinking beer, we went to the much friendlier bar across the street. (Kwakinn)
Nice food, good atmosphere but unfortunately let down by horrible service with an unnecessary cold and mean response. It’s not that difficult to be kind to customers.
Come here if you want good food and drinks but don't mind unhelpful bartenders who are quick to dismiss you if there is any questions.
There are several reviews mentioning rude unhelpful bartenders at this place, and with the amount of bars in this town this is not a...
Read moreGreat beer place! I had a nice lunch with some beers - just the taste set don't worry I didn't overindulge!
I had a Hemp waffle Venison (deer I assume?) Burger, I guess it was named Baffled Waffle (+1 for the name heh).
Really original, there was a red sauce in it, quite sugary, as well as some lingonberries and I assume some grated beets? And the deer was really good, maybe a BIT overcooked, but I'm not an expert on game (I wish I could do better heh). It was nice to have fresh French fries as well, so overall a really successful course!
The dessert was really surprising too, I had a crumble or rye bread (never had or heard before!!) accompanied with some jam, I think it was blackcurrant :) It was different than what I know and what I expected, and tasteful. Very cool to try! In fine I could say it was a bit mounted like a tiramisu, with something creamy -cheesy layered with the jam and the bread crumbs!
Thanks for the beer, the meal and the...
