I stopped here the day before yesterday as I was drawn in by the colourful-looking cakes on display and could use a snack/cheat meal on my vacation. They decided to peg themselves as a two star as soon as I walked in, though, as, being non-white, it is obvious I am a foreigner and they evidently take the tack here to be unsmiling and rude to foreigners.
I shouldn't have purchased anything at that point, but since I am used to that sort of behaviour in Lithuania anyways, I went ahead and asked for a slice of blueberry cake. The cream itself was what had the blueberries in it - not sure what the cake was as I was unfamiliar with the word, but maybe pistachio as it was green. The enigmatically green cake tasted like nothing, in any case, which I am starting to notice is a trend in this country for any non-native desserts: they tend to be a very muted or tasteless mimic of the refined French, Italian, etc. cuisine they are trying to imitate to lure in the tourist. The blueberry cream was alright but not very sweet, such that the overall effect was underwhelming and not worth the ~3 euros or so paid for it. Naturally would...
Read moreHow can a place promoting "coffee" have such a poor understanding of what constitutes 'good coffee'? Whoever is making the buying decisions knows nothing of quality coffee. It would be harder to find a more bland coffee in Lithuania - or Europe. Hard to blame the people making the coffee - if the owners are making such bad purchasing decisions - which is in contradiction to arguably one of the best locations in Klaipeda old town - perhaps that's the reason for not trying at all with the coffee - people will not care, and be too busy 'people watching..' not so, and will not return because of the...
Read moreGreat seating options and atmosphere. Plenty of dessert and side food items to complement what I imagine might be good coffee. I asked for a 4 shot decaf latte and was frowned upon, charged 7 euros, and given foamed milk with virtually no coffee at all. Perhaps there was miscommunication in translation, but the barista attitude was needlessly critical. Music was mediocre - nowhere near as tasteful as Musangas. Centrally located. I would comment more on the coffee but unfortunately wasn't given much of that the first time around. Haven't decided if...
