If you’re looking for a dining experience that perfectly balances mediocrity with discomfort, look no further. From the moment we walked in, we were met not with a warm welcome but with curious, almost suspicious stares from someone who appeared to be the manager, comfortably stationed at the bar nursing a cup of tea. It was an interesting choice of ambiance, to say the least.
Our table, strategically placed by the entrance and coat hangers, offered a constant draft and a steady stream of people brushing past—a dynamic touch that made our evening feel wonderfully chaotic. Nothing says romance quite like dodging winter gusts while attempting to enjoy a meal.
The waitstaff were polite enough, and the starters and mains were good—good by café standards, that is. For a place aspiring to be a restaurant, however, they fell a bit short. The real pièce de résistance was the dessert: a so-called tiramisu unceremoniously slapped onto a tiny plate. Given that it was Valentine’s Day, one might have expected a bit more effort.
The atmosphere was notably absent, and for the price, the experience was as underwhelming as they come. In short, if you’re in the mood for a café masquerading as a restaurant, complete with lukewarm hospitality and a drafty dining spot, this is the...
Read moreWe went to have lunch there based on lots of positive reviews. The place wasn't busy at all during lunchtime (9th August). We ordered aubergines as a starter and halibut and mussles as our main course. The starter arrived relatively quickly. However, the main course didn't arrive until over 45min. The waitress didn't bother to say anything. When we called her and asked she said it was because halibut takes time to cook. I am not a chef but even I know none of the fish is cooked for over 40min. When it finally arrived the piece of fish was tiny but the plate was filled with lots of mashed potatoes and peas to fill up the space. There was no apology, nothing from the waitress or chef. When asked for a bill, the waitress didn't want to bring it and we had to wait another 10min for her colleague to come.
The service was awful and food was average. They didn't even bother to discount for such long wait.
I wouldn't recommend going there and paying that much money for poor service and...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant and had mixed feelings about the overall experience. We started with an appetizer and followed with three different main dishes. The halibut was nicely cooked but lacked flavorful. The mussels in coconut chili broth were very good: rich, aromatic, and satisfying. Unfortunately, the tuna tartare was disappointing, with very little actual tuna and more filler than expected.
Drinks were a bit of a hit and miss. The local beer was excellent and well worth trying, but the wine pours were extremely stingy, definitely not worth the price charged.
What really left a bad taste, though, was being charged nearly €4 for tap water, with no prior notice on the menu or from the waitress. It felt sneaky, especially given the lack of transparency. This kind of practice really takes away from the dining experience.
In short: decent food overall with some hits, but overpriced drinks and questionable service policies make it hard to recommend. I would...
