Best place to have a bite/drink in Klaipeda Old Town!!! I've visited the tavern many times now, both for occasional lunch and for a drink and I must say it's one of the best places to go to for food/drinks in the old town of Klaipeda. The lunch menu changes daily, so you will definitely find something you like.
Last week I visited this place for lunch and as always I was pleasantly surprised. That day they had pumpkin soup and a chicken cutlet 'Astra' as part of their lunch menu of the day - it was amazing. (pics attached). I wish during the autumn season they did pumpkin soup more often, I loved it! I also ordered a white coffee, however, it comes with only a packet of sugar (sugar is bad for you, who needs it anyway, haha!) but if you do need an extra packet of sugar, just ask your waiter, they'll be happy to help :)
Good selection of hot/soft/alcoholic drinks and food, and very affordable pricing. The food quality is an amazing, lovely presentation of most dishes.
Polite and welcoming staff (although some of them do have an exceptional sense of humor, I think it just adds extra spice to the cozy tavern atmosphere :)) If you're going for drinks, I'd recommend a riesling, I don't know the exact name of it, but it's lovely. If you're going for food and you fancy something other than the lunch menu of the day - go for duck breast - it is to die for, the best dish hands down!
Waiters speak multiple languages, so ordering will hardly be a problem. However keep in mind, during busy periods, especially in the summer, each waiter has their own tables they serve, so if you call just any waiter and you feel ignored - don't be, as other waiters will not come up to you to serve the table of their colleague, it's part of the waiters' policy there. It is not because they're rude :)
Now, with that in mind, I highly recommend you pay Friedrich's Tavern a visit, I've read other reviews about the place and it breaks my heart because it really doesn't do it justice! You could say I'm a bit biased, but I keep coming back here because it is my favorite place to...
Read moreAnother place in Lithuania where prices and food quality has no match to service. What a shame. Took my niece for lunch here, instead of friendly greeting at the door: hey ladies how is your day going , welcome , we heard two words : green pass. Staff had no clue that American tourists don’t get green pass in Europe , we bring our vaccination passport instead. Lunch was served and our water was out, I kept looking towards the kitchen to get attention from 3 servers that day ( 2 guys and a woman ) and nobody cared. As two guys walked by us to put tables together for a bigger party they both ignored my “ excuse me “ and kept moving tables around, they clearly saw we had nothing left to drink anymore. I finally flagged our server and we got another bottle of sparkling water and some salt for my soup served per request. Nobody even bothered to ask us how our lunch was and if we needed anything else. I paid my bill and was waiting for my niece to use a bathroom before we headed out. One of guys looked towards me as told in Lithuanian what would be : “ are these two trying to runaway without paying a bill “ ?! ( o šitos dvi ar bando pabėgti nesusimokėjusios?) Excuse me ???!!!! Are you serious right now ? That’s how they talk to their customers! Inexcusable , what a shame. I really hope this place will find a better fitting personal , especially for a location in the city and having in mind pretty touristy area. That’s just...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at Friedricho Pasazas for 3 nights and highly recommend it. Our room was spacious and well equipped and everything worked well (including the WiFi), although we did not use the bidet, just the bath and shower. There is no lift, but all rooms are only one or two flights up. The included breakfast buffet provided a good range of food and there is a coffee making machine. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Even though it is a very small hotel/guest house, the reception is open 24 hours. Friedricho Pasazas is in the Old Town and in easy (apart from the cobblestones) walking distance of the main attractions and lots of good...
