Friedricho smuklė — Restaurant in Klaipėda

If you care about service, or just being treated with basic human dignity - stay away from this restaurant (our dubious experience: After waiting a long time to get the menu (!!) my husband went up to one of the employees to ask for it and was answered with "Sit down!!". Then we waited a long time for the dishes again, a simple request (to connect two small tables) was declined without explanation (and no, the restaurant was not full). When one of the dishes did not arrive and we asked to check, they simply ignored it, only after we had all finished the dishes and I asked again did they bother to check and the dish finally arrived. Great place. On windy/rainy day we sat outside. Waiter offered to re-locate inside, and when we declined, he offered us blankets. He was really polite during our full visit. Food was great and presented in a stylish way. Atmosphere in the evening, with little christmas-like lights was enjoyable and calming. If you want to spend some time with your other half and feel that your time was well spent, this is a great place for that! Das Restaurant befindet sich in einem alten Innenhof, direkt gegenüber einer bekannten Sehenswürdigkeit. Die Lage ist auf den ersten Blick charmant – historisch und atmosphärisch –, aber leider hat sich das Sitzen auf der Außenterrasse als weniger angenehm herausgestellt.

Während unseres Besuchs sind ständig Touristengruppen direkt an uns vorbeigelaufen. Viele blieben genau gegenüber stehen, um Fotos zu machen – was dazu führte, dass wir uns kaum ungestört unterhalten konnten. Die Atmosphäre war alles andere als intim: Lautstärke, neugierige Blicke, teilweise sogar in unsere Teller. Das war auf Dauer wirklich störend und hat den Aufenthalt draußen deutlich getrübt.

Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam, daran gibt es nichts auszusetzen. Das Essen war insgesamt solide, aber kein kulinarisches Highlight. Der Hähnchensalat bzw. Salat mit Hähnchenstreifen war geschmacklich eher trocken – eine andere Soße hätte hier sicher mehr rausgeholt. Der Salat mit Rote Bete und Ziegenkäse war hingegen gut gelungen. Auch der Apfelkuchen mit Eis war in Ordnung, schön angerichtet, aber geschmacklich fehlte das gewisse Etwas.

Fazit: Ein schönes Ambiente mit Abstrichen, freundlicher Service und durchschnittliches Essen. Für das Gesamtpaket vergebe ich 4 von 5 Sternen – mit...
