I recently had the displeasure of dining at Proteviai restaurant in Vilnius, and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. I feel compelled to share my negative review to warn others, especially digital nomads and visitors to the capital, about the abysmal service and overall lackluster atmosphere at this establishment.
To begin with, upon entering the restaurant, my party and I were left waiting for over 15 minutes without any attention from the staff. It was as if we were invisible. We tried to catch the eye of a waiter or waitress to request a menu or at least acknowledge our presence, but our efforts were in vain. This utter lack of basic customer service was deeply frustrating and set a terrible tone for the rest of our dining experience.
Regrettably, we ultimately left the restaurant without ever receiving a menu. It is mind-boggling to think that a supposedly functioning restaurant would fail to provide one of the most essential items to its customers. We were left bewildered and appalled by the lack of professionalism exhibited by the staff. It seemed as though they couldn't care less about our patronage or satisfaction.
What was even more disheartening was the fact that there were six members of staff present in the restaurant. One would expect that with such a seemingly adequate number of employees, the service would be efficient and attentive. However, this was far from the reality we experienced. It was evident that the staff had no sense of urgency or desire to cater to their customers' needs.
Considering these dismal circumstances, I cannot in good conscience recommend Proteviai to digital nomads or anyone visiting Vilnius. A restaurant should be a place where guests feel welcome, attended to, and provided with a satisfying dining experience. Unfortunately, Proteviai failed on all accounts. It is crucial for visitors to the capital to be aware of the lack of service and disregard for customer satisfaction that awaits them at this establishment.
In conclusion, my experience at Proteviai in Vilnius was nothing short of a letdown. The extended wait time, lack of attention from the staff, failure to receive a menu, and the presence of multiple uninterested employees make it clear that this restaurant does not value its customers. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment, and seek out other dining...
Read moreWent with friends for birthday occasion. The restaurant itself has a very nice, dark and chick feeling to it, however the music with very annoying and too loud that evening, we could barely communicate without raising voices.
What we didnt like was the fact that our table was completely ignored by staff and we waited just for the drinks to order for about 30 minutes and then again about 15-20 to receive our beverages. Granted, the restaurant was full (on a Tuesday evening) but there was a lot of waiters circulating around and two guys at the bar happily chatting, there is no attention to tables from any waiters, they seem to be distressed and overwhelmed.
We loved the caviar and beef tartar starters, they were indeed delicious and so was the presentation. The deserts were out of this world and we ordered all three on the menu, we loved ALL of them. The deserts are very different, have super unique flavours and presentations. I would say the desserts for me were highlight, all three of them. Sadly and most importantly however that the meat (we ordered different steaks for our group) was far from being decent. The main steak was cut into huge chunks, the other one was too dry. Generally, steaks did not have any taste, really. they were only disappointment in food.
There is still something to accomplish, in order to stand out for your customers and be...
Read moreI visited this restaurant recently with a group of colleagues. While the menu clearly caters to steak and red meat lovers, I don’t eat red meat for personal and health reasons — something I made sure to communicate to our server.
When I asked what I could safely eat, I was told the prawns contained pork in the sauce, so I went with the chicken after confirming it was suitable for me. Unfortunately, I later learned that the chicken had been served with a beef-based sauce — information I only received after reaching out to the restaurant the next day, following a pretty rough night of stomach pain.
I was quite upset at first, especially thinking how serious this could have been for someone with an allergy. But I do want to acknowledge that when I contacted the restaurant, they were apologetic, offered compensation, and assured me that they’ll be re-training their staff on how to better handle dietary restrictions.
While I appreciate the follow-up and willingness to improve, I still believe this kind of miscommunication shouldn’t happen — it’s not just an inconvenience, it’s a health risk. For now, I’d caution anyone with specific dietary needs to double-check everything and hopefully, with better processes in place, future experiences will be...
