Antipasti + wine will be the safest choice if you decide to visit, but don’t expect it to be better than your Friday night at home by the TV.
The food here is not fresh, it’s obvious the olives come from a can, the meats are pre-packed and the tomatoes on the bruschetta aren’t a ripe tasty variety - just the standard “glass” ones from the supermarket. Fun fact - not a single basil leaf was sighted, but plenty of tasteless spinach, did the cook mix up his herbs?
Our thoughts were that the food experience is definitely something anyone could serve themselves at home (and it would probably taste better), especially considering how many Italian delis now sell freshly cut meats and brined olives.
Our impressions remained the same with the arrival of the main course and the desserts - we had mushroom chicken for mains, here the sauce wasn’t even simmered down, but simply made with starch. The desserts continued the average streak by being defrosted slices cut out of a box.
Overall a very average experience, having gone out for dinner, we were hoping for at least some fresh food, but I guess this is just not the place for it.
Atmosphere wise, it was cosy once more people came and the waiter tried to be polite, but unfortunately there’s nothing that will keep us wanting...
Read moreI don't quite understand the low rating given, but to us it was a perfect evening on a trattoria where none of the items on the menu were changed by the chefs recommendations of the day, and that is what was making our evening memorable. We originally were going for a standard bruschetta to share, but ended with a 5 variation bruschettaes of tomato, garlic and basil, sun dried tomato and parmegani, camenbert, a beautiful ham and finally one with truffels, a treat! The menu did not include the three risotto variables, our selection with truffles, airy light, and with to us a perfect balance of the flavours. We opted for å tiramisu from the menu, but again, the chefs recommendation was a chocolate fondant with vanilla ice. Who can say no to that, and again, we just koved it! A good selection of wines by the glass was available, so Pinot Grigio and Chianto were perfect companies, as well as an herbal grappa to the coffee, which made our evening most enjoyable. And cudos to Alex that not only was continuously present, but also was guiding his staff in a professional way that should be a leading example for the management of many other restaurants in the Baltics. It is not a low-budget place, but we live only once, and we...
Read moreOur experience: You walk into what seems like a cozy bar, expecting a relaxed last drink of the evening. The bartender pours what seems like your beer, but instead of serving it she puts it on the counter about two meters away from you. Then, her phone rings, and she wanders off. Only for her collegue to notice about 20 minutes later. For him to (finaly) serve you your now completely flat beer.
As you sit there, sipping your lukewarm beer, you spot a cockroach scuttling in the corner. We are all trying to ignore it. Untill my friend heads to the restroom, only to find it overrun with roaches. My friend shrieks just loud enough for the server to notice, but he just shrugs and says, "That's normal around here in the older part of town." He then closes the door as if that solves the problem. He proceeds to hand us the full bill, as if nothing unusual just happened.
Would not recommend. Atleast, don't expect the best hospitality Vilnius...
