5-Star Review for Dovist Chicken Rice, Jalan Gaya
If you’re in Kota Kinabalu and craving a satisfying, flavorful lunch, Dovist Chicken Rice on Jalan Gaya is a must-visit. This hidden gem delivers a delightful dining experience that left me thoroughly impressed.
First, let’s talk about their roasted chicken rice—a true masterpiece. The chicken was perfectly roasted, boasting a crispy, golden-brown skin with tender, juicy meat underneath. Paired with fragrant, fluffy rice cooked to perfection, it was the ultimate comfort food. The accompanying chili sauce and soy dip added the perfect balance of heat and sweetness, elevating the dish to new heights.
Next, the curry laksa ngiu chap was equally outstanding. The broth was rich, creamy, and bursting with layers of spices and flavors, creating an aromatic base that warmed the soul. The combination of tender beef slices, fresh herbs, and noodles was incredibly satisfying. Every spoonful was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes.
What impressed me even more was how quickly our food arrived, despite the lunch crowd. The service was prompt and efficient, yet the staff remained friendly and attentive. You don’t often find this level of speed without sacrificing quality.
Lastly, the prices here are very reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of food served. It’s rare to find such delicious, well-prepared dishes at such a fair price point, especially in a prime location like Jalan Gaya.
Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Dovist Chicken Rice is a fantastic spot for a hearty, delicious lunch. Their roasted chicken rice and curry laksa ngiu chap are absolute must-tries. I can’t wait to return for another meal! Highly...
Read moreI smelled this area from far away. We were looking for lunch and pretty much set on this shop right after passing by it the first time.
We ordered the Sabah fish head soup with fragrant rice and a bowl of ngu chap.
Both the soups were deep in flavour. The fish had the right strength and depth yet wasn't fishy. The tang from the preserve vege and tomato was just right. The rice wasn't a great match but the rice on its own was good.
The ngu chap or mixed beef soup was equally as good. The soup was strong and bold yet wasn't overly beefy. I had it with bee hoon or rice noodle. Man i finished the bowl, soup and all.
The service could have been better. I can't blame them since they are super busy.
If i have the change, I will likely...
Read moreThis is probably the worst restaurant I had this time. I went there at 8pm and many dishes were gone. The lady boss looked indifferent and gave us food as alms. The restaurant was also very hot. I ordered roast duck and roast chicken noodles. My noodles didn't have vegetables, but my brother's had some vegetable leaves. The chicken was cold and had a very dry texture. The photo shows how it looked when it was just served. The taste was just okay. The roast duck made in China is much better. There's no need to go...
