Nestled amidst the cityscape, the Horizon Hotel is a sanctuary that redefines comfort with its warm and cozy ambiance. From the moment I stepped into its welcoming embrace, I knew I was in for an extraordinary stay.
During my recent study trip, I had the pleasure of a two-night stay at the Horizon Hotel. Read moreRooms: Deluxe room with a seaview is great, you can see the horizon(probably what inspired the hotel name) and sunset perfectly. The ceiling to floor windows are transparent, do not do the naughty with your significant other unless you want people below to see. It is Japanese themed and have a traditional medium size Japanese round hot tub which you can soak in after a long day at the sea. 2 person can soak in but it is a pretty tight fit, it's better off for 1 person or used as a tub for the children to play in. For the shower area, you can alternate between the normal shower head or the rain shower above. The temperature stays even throughout, unlike some rain shower I've experienced. But the shower head holder is fixed and stationary, so you can't alter the angle of the shower head. TV is very dated, it's a Viera and shows are limited due to satellite being easily affected by weather.
Service: Staff is polite, helpful, and greets you with a smile. Breakfast starts at 0630, selection is limited but it is decent if you want/have activities you need to get to early and not picky with your food.
Location: Absolutely perfect. Orange(Malaysia's convenience shop chain) is directly opposite the entrance, Api Api Night Market(Fri~Sat) and Gaya Street Sunday Morning Market is right at your door step, walk out the entrance and you will see it. You can tabao(take away your food) and bring it back up to the hotel and enjoy it. There are also multiple famous eateries, restaurant and kopitiam(coffee shop) around, bak kut teh, nasi lemak, ayam penyet, laksas, etc. Prefer fast food? There's pizza hut and kfc just around the corner too. About 5 shopping malls are located within walking distance, Jesselton Point is about 3 mins by taxi/ride hailing service. But if you are here specifically for PADI/SDI courses only, Mercure might be a better choice as it is directly opposite of Jesselton Point, and 2 big...
Read moreOur stay on the 12th floor of this hotel offered beautiful views of the ocean from a distance, creating a serene and scenic atmosphere. While the hotel isn’t located directly on the beachfront, it overlooks the ocean from several meters away.||The room was equipped with standard amenities like a safe and an electric kettle. Although the bathtub could have been cleaner, the seating area with ocean views was cozy and inviting—a great spot to unwind. The TV offered a limited selection of mostly local channels, and the internet connection was a bit slow, especially during rainy weather, occasionally causing interruptions in streaming. However, the staff were quick to address any concerns; when the fridge wasn’t working, it was replaced immediately. While the bidet had a minor leak, we didn’t feel the need to request a repair.||Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful. The hotel features two excellent restaurants and a coffee shop. The breakfast buffet leaned towards Asian and local dishes, with a smaller selection of Western options. The cereal choices were more indulgent than healthy, and while the coffee was decent, the tea from the machine was overly bitter.||The infinity pool and children’s pool were standout features, and the lounge on the 5th floor provided a relaxing and comfortable space to unwind. The hotel’s location is convenient, with many attractions and amenities within walking distance, though it’s not directly by the ocean.||With a few improvements, this hotel has the potential to enhance its offerings further, but it already delivers a comfortable and enjoyable experience for those seeking scenic ocean views. On the plus side, we had the unique experience of watching New Year’s fireworks right from our hotel window, and we could even see planes passing over the next building—though thankfully, no sound disturbed the...
