First time dining in after hearing many positive reviews. The restaurant is small but can accommodate for about 50 people decorated around the bamboo theme. Ordering is self service in the front counter with payment required first. There were quite a few people dining in during dinner time but seats were still plenty. Service was quick and staffs were friendly.
Heres what we tried: NASI LEMAK BAMBOO CURRY SEAFOOD. By far the best and most flavourful dish we tried here. It was served inside a bamboo where you would need to tip it over to remove the rice which was further wrapped with pandan. The curry was already infused with the rice which was very fragrant from the pandan and there were generous amount of prawns and squid. Its served with half a boiled egg, peanuts, dried anchovies, cucumbers and sambal. The sambal was unique with a sourness (tastes like asam), a bit sweet and not too salty but we didn’t fancy it as it was different from what we are used to.
NASI LEMAK AYAM GORENG. Served with fragrant coconut and pandan infused rice, peanuts, dried anchovies, cucumbers, half a boiled egg, fried chicken and generous amounts of sambal. The chicken was so juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside with a very nice herby fragrance. The rice was fluffy and really elevated the whole dish. As mentioned earlier, we didn’t fancy the sambal as much but the whole dish was really good even without the sambal.
BUNTUT AYAM AND KULIT. The fried chicken butt and skin was pretty good, really crunchy.
TERUNG SAMBAL. Using the same sambal so the dish had a sourness to it. Not spicy and a bit different from what we are used to.
CENDOL. Not bad but overly sweet from the gula melaka.
MILO THAI DINOSAUR. Unique thai tea topped with milo powder. However, they cancel each other out. Couldn’t really enjoy the flavours of either.
Overall, would definitely come back for the nasi lemak bamboo curry seafood! Would also like to try the other things...
Read moreThis place is pack during peak hours. One has to order at the counter and pay first. Get the receipt and plastic number holder. Hence may be inconvenient to dine in if you come alone. Big groups of more than 4 people may also face some problems because the tables are limited. There are seats upstairs but many people avoid sitting there lest the waiter have difficulty finding you and serving your food. I ordered nasi lemak bamboo kari seafood. What really gave me a wonderful surprise, was the nasi lemak came piping hot. I almost burnt my hand pouring the nasi lemak out. The taste was good. I also ordered a fresh coconut. Only RM6.50 each. Must try. Minus one star because quite a lot of msg was added to the nasi lemak. I ended up thirsty for a few hours. The waiters and waitresses are polite and friendly. They seem to be a happy lot of people. A very much needed packet of tissue was put on each table for the convenience of...
