Yang Yang Kopi 阳洋茶室 @ Toojou Hotel — Restaurant in Borneo

My first impression of this restaurant was very bad. Every dish here can be upgraded to a set for just RM4, which includes a hot drink and a pandan layer cake. But when I asked for pandan layer cake, they said the cake was sold out and is a complimentary item and couldn’t be changed to other items. Come on—we paid an extra RM4 for the set, so that means we paid for the cake.

But that’s just a small matter. What really disappointed me was the quality of the food.

The food here is not worth the price and is overrated. The kon lou mee was all stuck together like eating kuih, and the fried boneless chicken was tasteless.

The most disappointing dish was their curry mee—it really tasted like Maggi curry. The Penang curry mee ingredients were mostly frozen fish cake.

The only thing I enjoyed here was the environment. It’s very chill.

I visited the café last weekend with my family. Overall, the prices are affordable, and the atmosphere has great potential. However, there are two areas that could use improvement.

First, many items on the menu were unavailable during our visit, which was disappointing as we were looking forward to trying a variety of dishes.

Second, the first floor—presumably intended as a cozy hangout space—felt somewhat misused. It was mostly occupied by young couples using it as a dating spot, some even bringing laptops and ordering just one drink while occupying the space for long periods. This made the area feel less welcoming for families or larger groups who might also want to enjoy the space.

With a few adjustments, especially in managing menu availability and the use of communal spaces, I believe the café can offer a much better experience for all types...

the ambience was ok, great. the male server was nice to us. however the female server was kinda rude. maybe because we dine in at 9, but they said it was ok.

know this cafe from tiktok, the food looks tempting (we expected it to be). but nope. it was the saltiest restaurant ive ever had. ordered mer char siew, and the one that came looks soooo far from the picture in the menu. when i asked the female server, no sorry and not even wanting to speak nicely. she said they changed the recipe. so change the picture as well?? ordered kuew tiow goreng and fries as well. too salty that we cant even finish it. so...
