The worst meal I had for my whole Penang trip. I love Teochew cuisine since young as my grandma is Teochew, but the food here is utterly disgusting & the service here is terrible. All the utensils is super oily, can you imagine when you open up the container storing all the utensils it’s all oily. The staff even served me plates with soap bubbles & milktea colour stains on it. I requested for a change, and the waiter told me straight away it’s all the same before even look at it. After I showed him the stains, he then took it back and change for me without any apology. Almost every single bowl & plates were chipped off. I never been to any restaurants serving all the broken plates and bowls before. Everything taste awful except the Teochew porridge set which is still acceptable. Their signature kuan qiang & Yam cake is obviously kept for a period and it taste awful. Don’t know how many times they refry it. I am not sure if this restaurant is understaff, all of them gather at the back and avoiding eye contact when we raised up hand for service. Price is on a higher side, and their food is all below average. Very...
Read moreGot it the place around 12.30pm, Sunday with my family. Had to wait for table because of peak hour, usual on a weekends. The table was half-heartedly cleared by a staff/family member of the business. It was a bit icky seeing the cloth wring out with just water( at the customer hand washing sink) and no sanitising was done after clearing.
Ordering was done fairly easy thru the app.
Food came pretty quickly as it was the quick assembly type of food( precooked to order) Taste was okay. The speciality is porridge and braised dishes Teow-chew style. Presentation was on point with the pictures provided. Price point was reasonable.
Parking is hellish in this part of town, so order a Grab or park further and walk to the shop.
Overall, give this place a try if you're looking for teow chew style porridge and braised dished. Give it a miss if you...
Read moreThe Michelin Restaurant was quite attractive. We loved the decorations.
Since we had dinner plans, we opted for a light lunch. The menu looked excellent. Every place and dialect have unique ways of presenting food.
The kuehs differed from those in SG. I'm a fan, and these suited my taste; not too salty.
The noodle's al dente texture was great. The kids finished everything.
The lotus soup, double-boiled, was light and tasty. Overall, it was good.
The toasted bread was a recommended menu item. It was good; the kaya wasn't too sweet, and generous. The margarine, if I'm not wrong, leaked all over when we bit into it. 😂
The black glutinous rice, freshly cooked, shocked me - salty! I asked the cashier if this was their style; he apologized, saying it might have been over-seasoned.
Oh well, nevertheless, it...
