Deen Claypot Biryani — Restaurant in George Town

The food was actually tasty. However, the bill came as a surprise: 40.95 MYR. For a canteen-style eatery, we found it pricey. For context: We shared a plate of Nasi Briyani, with me having Tandoori chicken and cabbage, while my husband had fried chicken with half-salted egg and eggplants. I also had the ice mint tea, and we had a bottle of mineral water.

We felt a bit taken advantage of, possibly due to being non-locals. What's more, there was no receipt provided, and we only realized how we were being ripped off after walking quite a distance.

For comparison, the day before, we had a satisfying meal at Deen Mutiara in Hutton Lane, with lamb, kerupuk, telur asin, okra, and ayam goreng, all for half the price.

I would have given this place 5 stars after having breakfast here, but then stopped by for an early supper and was disappointed. When they are busy, the food is excellent, but in off hours they will reheat something in the microwave, and as others have said the pricing is way off. My friend got a huge piece of chicken in her naan set for 10 R, and I got a small piece of chicken in the same, and then a hard to eat piece of lamb knuckle in my not very good rogan tikka which was 25 R. The service was terrible. The lady sat and spoke to family after taking our order, the person who bought our food out walked outside, then the chef bought us our next dish and walked outside. Not sure what was going on outside, but we should have taken a hint. The food was cold, they forgot to bring rice, it was definitely not as any pictures suggested it would look like. Never again.
