Tucked away along Burmah Road, is Grandpa's Kitchen which is just a little away from the hustle and bustle of the Pulau Tikus area. It features wholesome home cooked dishes at reasonable prices. Parking here is very limited, and you'd probably have to park across the road or near Jones Road area and walk a bit. There is no fancy decor, no frills, just a large rectangular dining area with round tables and chairs, and if you come during peak periods, you'd probably have to wait for one. So it's better to book ahead. There is a large variety to food here, but the popular ones include too kha chor (pigs trotters in vinegar), eng chye char belachan (kangkung belachan). Do ask the server what else are the popular dishes and you'll be given many choices, all of which would probably be good. The curry fish was exceptional in flavour. Rich and aromatic, it goes so well with rice - that's my recommendation to you to try. Prices are super reasonable and won't burn a hole in your pocket. I would advise you not to visit alone as it's better to have a few persons eating together - you can order a few dishes rather than just one. All-in-all, I had a great meal here and will be back!

I decided to try this restaurant because it was conveniently located near where I was staying. When you walk into the restaurant, the first impression is that it resembles someone's home. Don’t expect modern or classic Chinese restaurant decor that screams expensive; this place is completely different. However, you will be pleasantly surprised by the flavors and taste of the food they serve. The portion sizes are just right—not too much and not too little. It feels like enjoying a home-cooked dinner, and the best part is that the prices are surprisingly reasonable. I will definitely go back to try more dishes. What we ordered: 1. Steamed braised pork 2. Onion omelette 3. Salted egg chicken 4. Garlic broccoli

Good 煮炒 restaurant with reasonable pricing. Famous for the roast pork knuckle & sambal kangkung. Comprehensive menu with variety of eggs dishes, chicken dishes, seafood (fish, prawn), pork dishes, tofu dishes, vegetables & soup. Also available - steamboat & porridge / noodle soup (that can pick meat, chicken, fish or tomyam to go with). Loud echo inside the shop when it was crowded. Making conversation difficult.
