Revisiting this place for the second time, I've had the chance to try the Curry Mee along with the Lor Mee extras, besides the delicious Lor Mee.
All things considered, the overall choices of food here is not plenty, but the food that is served are quite decent. The Curry Mee was slightly on the spicier side but had a lot of 'fillings'. The Char Kuay Teow is not bad based on Penang standards (so it's already better than most of KL). But of course, the Lor Mee still outshines everything (although it is more expensive). Try ordering a plate of the mixed pork to try different parts of the pig, it's also delicious !
Although parking can be hard to find (where in Penang is it not, actually?), the place is usually not very crowded and you can most definitely find a seat. The Nasi Melayu looks really good and always has a queue but I've not tried it. Drinks are cheap. Overall a good place for breakfast in Penang if...
Read moreOkay, I'm just gonna say it: this is HANDS DOWN the best wantan mee I've had in years! And I'm SO mad at myself, I have to apologize, because we totally forgot to get any photos! The moment the plates hit our table, the smell was so incredible we just dove straight in without even thinking.
My wife and I will literally travel anywhere for a good meal, so believe me when I tell you, this is the real deal. The noodles were perfectly springy, that thick soy sauce was just...WOW. We also tried their curry mee, which had this super unique and delicious twist to the broth.
On top of the amazing food, the shop itself has this really calm, cool, and relaxing atmosphere – a perfect spot to just chill and escape the Penang heat for a bit. And whatever you do, you CANNOT leave without getting their teh-peng to wash it all down. You guys have to try...
Read moreI have been here and so far I'm liking it. I have tried the wantan noodles, nasi padang (or nasi melayu), and loh mee.
The wantan noodles is famous from the 'ah hong lobang' channel. The white wantan mee was apparently the real traditional one. They are generous with the pork lard, and crispy pork lard bits. The noodles are springy and flavourful. I like the wanton the most. The skin is thin, good filling. The minced pork is fresh and flavourful.
The nasi padang has a lot of dishes. I love their kacang botol kerabu. So refreshing and delicious. The daging rendang was cooked to perfection. The meat is so tender and it won't stuck in your teeth.
Loh mee has nice 5 spices smell, and the gravy is thick.
There are many other stalls I have yet to try.
I will revisit...
