This cafe has a modern look incorporated into an old warehouse and is a welcoming sight because you just don’t expect a place like this around this area. The environment is cooling, spacious, and clean (the restroom shares the same cleanliness). The one challenge people will face is finding a parking spot because there are only a few spaces in front of the cafe and most are usually taken due to this area being a popular tourist spot.
The service was excellent to say the least. The staff were very friendly in taking our orders and one of the staff was even smiling to our kids.
In terms of the food, I felt that the set lunch and dinner combo could have more options to choose from. The chicken teriyaki and salad set lunch was great but nothing extraordinary. We did enjoy the sweet potato fries though and it was finished before all our main dishes. You will be disappointed though if you want cakes because there are only muffins and buns here so heads-up for the cake lovers.
The food prices are reasonable with the higher-end prices being allocated to the salmon dish and some others.
Nonetheless, I loved the atmosphere and interaction with the staffs here so we would definitely come back again...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem in Penang. The Gudang (means godown or warehouse in Bahasa) Cafe does not look as a cafe when we walked pass. In fact, I have walked pass the cafe a few times and thought is a bar. I saw its name in Facebook yesterday and decided to come for a late lunch. Its decoration retains the godown character but gives a cozy feel.
They serve a combination of Asian and Western dishes. Out of my expectations the foods are really good. Love it 😊. The price is reasonable as well.
The staff are very friendly, specially the Manager (boss), Mr Hero (英雄). We had a very good chat after our meal. It is good to make friends in addition to good food.
We will come again to try other dishes.

We came to the cafe for dinner yesterday. It was not busy. We have Japanese noodles, they tasted good. However, I would preferred noodles with a more harder texture. The drinks (Fresh Apple Orange juices, and Japanese Yuzu Lemonade) were good too. The staff are extremely friendly. Lucas is a very polite, handsome and tall young man. Better than many Korean actors. Young ladies should visit the cafe in the evening...
Read moreThe food served was not similar to the description in the menu. The spaghetti was spicy (green chili padi) but the menu did not mention that it is spicy. Besides, the rice ordered by my friend was contaminated with fragments of metal sponge. When I complained to the waiter, he did not pay attention while I'm complaining to him. He did not give further explanation and no apologies at all! I feel very very disappointed with Gudang cafe and even feel sorry to recommend Gudang cafe to my friend yesterday.
Edit: The management team did look into this matter seriously. They gave me a full refund for my bill and a free coffee. I visited them again and found out that they edited their menu to prevent any confusion. Appreciate their effort very much. Hope to visit Gudang cafe again in the...
