Lunarich Malaysia Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in George Town

My previous visit to this restaurant was pleasant so I decided to return for dinner. Unfortunately, the experience I had tonight will deter me from revisiting.

We ordered a starter and 2 mains. My main meal was served very promptly. Unfortunately my companion did not receive his order at the same time. We were left waiting for his meal while my Aglio olio started to get cold. I informed the manager and he offered to reheat my meal. How do you reheat crispy bacon pasta? 3 pieces of Bruchetta arrived midway, a small amount of tomatoes , parmesan, rocket and a piece of unidentifiable (dry and spongy) matter which we later found out was Foie Gras when we received the bill . It did not have the smooth, rich buttery flavour which it is renowned for. Overall, not worth RM48. Would have been nice if we were informed this was non standard Bruchetta, that's all we wanted. Juicy, fresh tomatoes on a nicely toasted slice of bread, in olive oil, salt and basil.

Finally, my companions order arrived. The pulled pork pizza was done perfectly with a nice thin crust.

Perhaps business was slow and the manager tried to boost income for the night. When we received our bill, we noticed that there was an additional charge for Chicken pepperoni which was added to the pizza which we did not request. We spoke to the manager and he said he might have accidentally added the order on our pizza. He removed the additional cost from our bill.

Overall it was not a pleasant experience with our orders arriving at different times. It doesn't make the situation better by offering to reheat a customer's meal because of the mistake made by the staff. Replacement would have been a better option. Not informing customers your 'off menu orders' are not standard orders and accidentally including extras in a customers order ....that's cheeky.

Apart from the pizza which is hand tossed , I found the pasta and Bruchetta to be below average in terms...

We traveled all the way from Ipoh to dine at Lunarich Malaysia Pizza & Pasta, Penang, and it turned out to be one of the most heartwarming and memorable dining experiences we’ve ever had.

From the moment we walked in, the boss welcomed us with such genuine warmth and hospitality, making us feel truly at home. His passion for authentic Italian cuisine and commitment to quality control were evident in every aspect of our meal. He personally ensured that everything was perfect, and his friendly nature made our visit even more special.

The food was simply exceptional. The cheese-baked oysters were a highlight—fresh, creamy, and bursting with rich flavors. The squid ink spaghetti was cooked to perfection, packed with umami goodness, and incredibly well-balanced. The pizza had a perfectly crispy yet chewy crust, with premium toppings that made every bite a delight. Each dish reflected true Italian craftsmanship, with high-quality ingredients and meticulous preparation.

Beyond the incredible food, what truly set this place apart was the genuine hospitality and passion behind it. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and every detail from the food to the service was handled with care and love.

I tried the Spaghetti al Arrabbiata e Gamberi and it was a revelation. The fresh prawns, garlic slices, and chili flakes in rich tomato sauce blended perfectly, making every bite a delightful explosion of flavors.

The Linguine all Vongole was another standout dish. The olive oil-based pasta with fresh clams, garlic, chili flakes, and black olives was delicious. Each bite was filled with the essence of the sea and aromatic spices, leaving a lasting impression.

The Bismarck Pizza was a delightful treat with its tomato base, pepperoni, egg, onion, and chili flakes. The thin, crispy crust paired with the rich toppings made each slice a pleasure to eat.

I also enjoyed the Funghi Salad, which featured fresh mixed vegetables topped with wild mushrooms, Grana Padano cheese, and balsamic dressing. The combination of fresh greens and the earthy aroma of mushrooms was truly appetizing.

Lastly, the Mushroom Soup was incredibly rich and served with two slices of garlic bread. Each spoonful was bursting with mushroom flavor, providing a comforting warmth.
