29.03.2025 - First day of operation for the rebranded Beauty in the Pot, now known as Paradise Hotpot. The restaurant now operates on a la carte buffet style, with limited 90 mins dining time BUT the QR Code for ordering food expires after 60 mins upon entry to the restaurant. TASTE Considering the price, it was decent and the food items were fresh (but maybe it was due to 1st day of operation - who knows). The self service bar includes quite a variety of cook food and I find that the Taiwanese Braised Pork Rice (卤肉饭) and Deep Fried Pork with Fermented Beancurd (南乳炸肉) to be particularly good. SERVICE It was a WHOLE MESS at first where the kitchen could not dish out the orders efficiently in reasonable time- which pose a problem as there’s a cap on dining and even ordering time. However, our service crew, JOANNE was EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD. She understands the predicament that we are in and tried to expedite the orders from the kitchen. She also explains the issue to us, and was VERY APOLOGETIC. She is a VERY SINCERE staff and I think she’s a GEM that the Restaurant needs to appreciate. On the other hand, their Assistant Manager, JAZZ is HORRIBLY RUDE AND DISGUSTING. This man had the AUDACITY to IGNORE the customer’s hand and directs crew to respond to us. He also thought it fit to INTERRUPT the conversation between the Crew and the Customer, by handing dishes for the Crew to serve to other tables WHEN WE WERE VISIBLY IN A CONVERSATION. How could such a person be a service crew in a restaurant, lest to say an Assistant Manager - wholly UNFATHOMABLE. Overall, I’ll probably come back if I crave for some hot soup or hot pot, and let’s hope that it gets better the next time.

Great selection of dishes and options. We chose Premium Set and hope for more beef selection, currently only 1 type of beef Teochew style base soup is highly recommended

Tried this place out because they advertised themselves as “Penang’s first Hong Kong-style hotpot,” but honestly, there’s nothing particularly Hong Kong about it. Playing Cantonese songs and saying a few lines in Cantonese doesn’t make the food authentic. The drinks, fruits, and ice cream were acceptable – but really just average, the kind you’d find at any budget hotpot buffet. I ordered their premium set which included sliced lamb (羔羊肩肉) & Sliced Australian Beef (澳洲精选牛肉片), but it was extremely disappointing. I mean it – the beef had an odd texture once cooked, and the lamb had a very strong, unpleasant gamey smell. The sauces were basic and uninspiring, and there were no instructions or suggestions on how to mix or pair them. One positive note: the service was okay. One staff member noticed my chopsticks were dirty and took the initiative to replace them, which I appreciated. (But that’s the only service I felt.) In summary, you could get the same (or even better) quality at the cheapest hotpot places around. Don’t be fooled by the “Hong Kong-style” label – it’s just a marketing gimmick. Kindly check my photo attached for more info.

Luv this place so much that I now patronise it once a week. Lately, am greatly impressed with the excellent service rendered by a young, hardworking guy named J I A Y U A N He's truly attentive & makes everyone feel welcome.

Since I come here often, I've tried all the 3 sets. May I highly recommend : THE PREMIUM SET; it's value for money. A feast to indulge.

Occasionally, we get to see the smart, handsome & ever pleasant GM, Mr. Louis. He's ever busy with his commitments, but when he's around, his contagious smile indeed brightens up the place even more!

Best Wishes to Paradise. Myriad thanks to all staff.

I'll be back! ♥️

Beautiful things happen in Paradise. Today dropped in again for my favourite lunch. Had a fortunate glimpse of the smart & outstanding GM Louis. Nepalese Subra reminded me not to miss the yummy waffle. JIA Yuan & Josh were as usual, as efficient as ever, just like the entire hardworking team.

The bonus today is the dashing-looking gentleman at the next table conversing with his elegant wife. Besides indulging in my Hotpot, I was appreciating this guy's high std of English, which makes me proud as a Msian.

Hastily, we exchanged a brief farewell when I finished my meal. Settling my bill with the ever- handsome Dtrey (doppleganger of TVB Him Law, lol!), the proficient speaker came to tell Dtrey to put my bill under his a/c. Of course, I declined but finally his sincere gesture was much appreciated. I presume this MR. TEOH is a successful businessman with great compassion & humanity. Most of all, am fascinated by the way he talks. Indeed makes my day!

May God Bless Mr. TEOH & his family. What Goes Round Comes Around.

To Paradise...

I left today’s lunch feeling frustrated, rushed, and frankly, cheated. If this was due to a staff shortage, it reflects poor management. If it was a deliberate tactic to limit customer orders and reduce costs, it’s an unethical business practice. Either way, it’s unacceptable.

Let’s start with the good: The staff who seated us was polite and knowledgeable, recommending the best soup bases, which we appreciated. The waitresses clearing our table were fast and friendly. However, good service should extend beyond greetings and table clearing—it should cover the entire dining experience. And that’s where Paradise Hotpot failed today.

We opted for the buffet and were given 90 minutes to dine, with a 60-minute ordering window. However, there was no clear indication of portion sizes. Not wanting to waste food (and risk extra charges), we started small—but then waited 20 minutes just for our first order to arrive.

When we placed a second round of orders, not everything was served. Upon asking the waitress, she told us to track our own orders and list what was missing. Why are you relying on customers to manually check what they ordered? That’s your responsibility, not ours.

By the time we placed a third round of orders, it took forever to arrive. The delays weren’t just inconvenient; they felt intentional. Then, to top it off, the ordering QR code expired, locking us out of placing any more orders. We followed your rules, but your inefficiency worked against us.

A good restaurant values its customers and their dining experience. A great restaurant prioritizes service, efficiency, and transparency. Paradise Hotpot, however, did the opposite:

You control the dining time but don’t serve food promptly. This forces customers into ai stressful, rushed experience.

You enforce a no-wastage policy but don’t clarify portion sizes. This confuses customers and limits their ability to order wisely.

You expect customers to track missing orders instead of managing it properly yourselves. This is lazy, inefficient, and disrespectful to diners.

Please do not promote a buffet and then manipulate service speed to discourage orders. That’s misleading and unfair.

The staff members who served us well deserve recognition, but service is more than just politeness—it’s about ensuring customers actually get to enjoy their meal. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen today.

Bottom line: I came for a meal, not a battle against your service...

First off, 3 stars. This is how i rate, 1 - terrible, 2 - below average, 3 - average, 4 - above average and 5 is excellent.

Overall easy to book, they have their own website to book tables and was straight forward only 5 minute wait time even during peak hours to get table (if you book before hand if not expect to wait 20-30 minutes for a table if walk in during peak hours) when we went, most of the meats were already out of stock, beef lamb intestines all were sold out.

Variety wise for the meats were on the lower side, and service speed during peak is slow. Took almost 45 minutes out of the 90 minute dining time to fulfil our meat orders but thankfully everything else other than the meat is self served, their precooked food was nice and plentiful and was constantly getting refilled which was nice. Sauce bar had a nice variety, drinks also had a decent spread of options. Self service bar for the other ingredients have a good variety of options, fishballs, veggies carbs no complaints there.

Taste wise its quite average nothing really wowing me but for the price and being the cheapest all you can eat buffets in gurney its alright but probably wouldn't go again unless they increase their meat selections

The overall vibe of the palce is nice, they have a play area for kids, noodle and soup bar and the decorations were pleasing. For about 60 ish a person for the middle package i wouldn't say its "worth" going more than once. Try once and u can decide yourself if you are willing to go again. Me personally would rather pay a slight premium and go for One dish one taste at level 1 next to Arashi Shabu Shabu, its pricier at about 185 for two as compared to 125~ at paradise hotpot but they have longer dining times at 120 minutes instead of 90 and they easily have 3-4 times the variety in meats you can order and not to mention HDL level service and speed these alone justifies for the premium that they charge and i can understand why.

Conclusion it was an ok experience at Paradise Hotpot, and as mentioned above, probably would not visit again unless they improve the above mentioned factors. Paradie hotpot 3/5 One dish one taste (一碟一味)6/5 (not a typo definitely a 6 over...
