Namastey Kitchen, Penang - A Symphony of South Indian Street‑Food Flavors Tucked away in a lively corner of Penang, Namastey Kitchen is a treasure trove for anyone craving the bold, comforting tastes of South Indian street food. The moment you walk in, the air hums with the scent of toasting spices and sizzling griddles, while cheerful decor and friendly staff set the stage for a memorable meal. Egg Kothu Parotha Imagine shredded parotha tossed on a smoky griddle with tender pieces of egg, fresh curry leaves, and a whisper of chili. Each mouthful is an irresistible medley of soft, flaky pastry and savory egg, punctuated by the gentle crunch of onions and the warmth of aromatic spices. Vege Kothu Parotha For a vegetarian twist, the Vege Kothu Parotha swaps in crisp onions, carrots, and green curry leaves for the dough yet retains that same loving toss of buttery parotha and house‑made masala blend. It’s a vibrant, palate‑pleasing dish that feels both hearty and wholesome. Podi Thosai Crisp, paper‑thin dosas arrive with a dusting of fiery podi powder and a drizzle of ghee. Tear off a corner, dip it into the tangy coconut chutney or sambar, and revel in the contrast between the dosa’s light crispness and the chutney’s cool creaminess. Plain Roti Canai Simple perfection on a plate: layers of golden, buttery roti canai come served with a bowl of rich sambar curry. Each fold yields a pillowy bite that soaks up curry gravy beautifully a classic that never disappoints. Idiyappam Vege Goreng Steamed rice noodles styled into delicate nests meet a stir‑fry of mixed vegetables tossed in fragrant spices. This fusion of silky idiyappam and wok‑tossed veggies is a refreshing change of pace light yet bursting with flavor. To complement the bold dishes, Namastey Kitchen offers a refreshing Lemon Soda, the perfect palate cleanser with its fizzy, citrusy punch. If you're in the mood for something warming, their Ginger Tea hits the spot with its spicy-sweet balance, while the Bru Coffee strong, aromatic, and served piping hot adds that nostalgic South Indian cafĆ© finish to the meal. Whether you’re a die‑hard South Indian food lover or an adventurous newcomer, Namastey Kitchen’s dedication to authentic taste and warm hospitality will leave you planning your next visit before the last bite.

I've visited this restaurant twice now, and both times offered a good overall experience with a few minor drawbacks. First Visit: I ordered a Bru coffee and plain thosai. Though we were told there would be a wait, the food arrived within 10–15 minutes, which was reasonable. The thosai was quite filling on its own, and the sambar served alongside was flavorful and paired well. A nice surprise was the complimentary coconut kesari, it was delicious and a thoughtful touch that made the visit feel a bit more special. Second Visit: This time I went with my family and tried a wider variety of dishes. The mutton kottu parotha was tasty and satisfying, and the chicken briyani was flavorful and well-cooked. However, the sambal chicken briyani didn’t quite hit the mark. The sambal had an overpowering raw spice smell, which made it seem like it wasn't cooked through properly. That affected the overall enjoyment of that dish. Overall: Service is polite, food generally arrives in a timely manner, and most of the dishes we've tried were enjoyable. I'd definitely return, but would likely skip the sambal chicken briyani next time.

Got to know about this Restaurant from a friend Opened about 2 months ago, you can clearly see the come back crowd of loyal customers As much as we wanted to try out the Breakfast, we ended up having lunch about 3 due to work scheduling We ordered the VEGETARIAN BIRYANI SET which was truly delicious Portion was just nice for one person Their menu is quite extensive and would satisfy any discerning customer One thing I noticed was the servers really did their best to ensure every order was met as soon as possible despite the chaotic way that they were handling the situation We finished our lunch, practically cleaned the plate That shows how good their food was A must try You be the judge

This is not your ordinary Indian restaurant — I’ve been here a few times already, and each visit has been consistently amazing.

The ambience is warm, inviting, and beautifully set up — perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The staff are always friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. Plus, the cleanliness of the place is impeccable, which adds a lot to the overall comfort.

Now, let’s talk food — the chef-recommended Chicken Tokku Biryani was absolutely out of this world. Bursting with flavor and unlike anything I’ve tried before. The Chicken and Mutton Biryani were equally delicious — aromatic, perfectly spiced, and generously portioned. The Kottu Porotta was a pleasant surprise — not just chopped parotta, but loaded with chicken and other ingredients, making it super filling and satisfying.

And I have to say — I loved their Moore Ice! It was so flavourful and soothing, especially refreshing on a hot day. Such a simple drink done so well.

And to top it all off, the pricing is very reasonable for the quality and quantity you get.

Highly recommended — a must-try spot if you love Indian...
