Pure Shaiva: A Haven of Warmth, Flavor, and Exceptional Service Stepping into Pure Shaiva was a truly delightful experience that began the moment we crossed the threshold. It’s rare to find a dining spot that manages to hit all the right notes—culinary quality, atmosphere, and service—but this place nails the trifecta. The moment we walked in, we were enveloped by an incredibly warm and inviting ambience, setting a beautiful stage for the meal ahead. The decor strikes a lovely balance, utilizing soft, ambient lighting and comfortable seating arrangements that encourage conversation and make you want to linger. However, the element that truly elevated our evening was the outstanding hospitality, particularly from the manager. He was genuinely jovial, friendly, and attentive, circulating the dining room with an infectious enthusiasm. He stopped by our table to ensure everything was perfect, sharing a quick, lighthearted joke that added a wonderful, personalized touch. This level of care made us feel less like customers and more like cherished guests, which speaks volumes about the establishment’s dedication to service. And, of course, the food was just as impressive! We ordered a classic spread, including the Onion Uthappa, which arrived thick, perfectly spongy, and generously studded with fresh, finely diced onions—a flavorful, authentic South Indian comfort done exactly right. The Parotta was another highlight; it was exquisitely layered and flaky, proving it was clearly crafted with skill and care, and it paired beautifully with the accompanying side dish. To round off our meal, the Fried Rice was a pleasant surprise. It was light, perfectly seasoned, and filled with fresh, crisp vegetables, avoiding the common pitfall of being overly oily or heavy. Overall, Pure Shaiva is an absolute gem. The combination of its soothing atmosphere, the delicious, high-quality food, and the exceptional, friendly management makes it a truly memorable dining destination. We left completely satisfied and already planning our next trip back.

Initially drawn in by the vegan ice cream, then realise we could get dinner here! I'm vegan and the options were plentiful, the manager was so helpful in telling me what I could order and explaining what the dishes were as we are typical uncertain English tourist trying to Google the dishes! I went back multiple times during my stay and the dishes never disappointed! I didn't feel like an inconvenience asking lots of questions they were so happy to help! The food is super cheat for good size portions! The resturant is clean and has a very social vibe! I ate with friends but would happily eat here alone! It's great food whether vegetarian vegan or no dietary requirements! You can order from the menu or a buffet type style where you select your rice curry and vegetables which was 11 rm. Super affordable (coming from a traveller of 5 months!) THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING SO ACCOMODATING! You won't regret coming here!

As a vegetarian food lover, this is a recommended place for everyone. Clean eatery, lots of menu to choose, affordable and reasonable price for such big individual portion, friendly and helpful waiters. Plain water is served even without us requesting it. That's nice. As a non-Tamil speaking mamak, I had a miscommunication/misunderstanding with the food server. Haha. He told me that the mango dish is recommended, but I didn't even manage to say no (as I don't like it), he already scooped it into my plate. It's okay, the food was great but only the mango part was unenjoyable for me. Vadai, kesari, payasam and cutlet are all good! I will come again, and so should you!

Pure Saiva Penang is truly a vegetarian paradise that every veggie lover must visit. Nestled in the vibrant streets of Penang, this eatery offers an exquisite selection of vegetarian dishes that are not only delicious but also crafted with a passion for authentic flavors.

From the moment you step inside, the welcoming atmosphere and the subtle aroma of spices instantly make you feel at home. The décor is simple yet elegant, with an emphasis on comfort and cleanliness, setting the perfect stage for a delightful dining experience.

The menu at Pure Saiva is a treasure trove for vegetarians, featuring a wide range of South Indian and fusion dishes. Their thali sets are a must-try, offering a generous spread of fragrant rice, hearty sambar, flavorful rasam, and a selection of vegetable curries that showcase the vibrant colors and diverse tastes of Indian cuisine. The portion sizes are more than satisfying, and the balance of spices is just right never overpowering, just enough to enhance each ingredient's natural flavor.

One dish that truly stands out is their Masala Dosa crispy, golden-brown, and filled with a perfectly spiced potato mixture. Paired with a trio of chutneys and a bowl of hot, tangy sambar, it’s a dish that you’ll remember long after the meal is over. Their Vadai, crunchy on the outside and soft within, also makes for a perfect starter.

For those looking for something hearty, the Vegetable Biryani is a real treat. The rice is beautifully aromatic, with vegetables cooked to perfection and seasoned with a blend of spices that makes every bite a flavor packed experience. The accompanying raita adds a refreshing contrast, balancing the rich, savory notes of the biryani.

Pure Saiva also excels in its dessert offerings. The Payasam is particularly noteworthy sweet, creamy, and loaded with cashews and raisins, it’s the perfect way to end your meal on a high note. The staff at Pure Saiva are courteous, attentive, and more than happy to recommend dishes based on your preferences. Their commitment to quality and hospitality truly enhances the dining experience.

If you’re in Penang and looking for a place that celebrates vegetarian cuisine with authenticity and heart, Pure Saiva is the place to be. Whether you're a vegetarian or simply looking to explore new flavors, this restaurant promises a memorable feast that will leave you coming...

The food here is undeniably delicious, and I can’t fault the flavors and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. However, the pricing and portion sizes are disappointing and ultimately affect the overall experience. I’m giving 3 stars purely because of the pricing, which I feel does not match the value of the meal. RM17.80 for ghee rice, three small vegetable sides, payasam, and appalam feels excessive, especially considering rasam and yogurt were not included.

The portion sizes are noticeably small, and when I politely asked for a little extra, the staff seemed hesitant to accommodate the request. It’s disheartening to feel like you’re being short-changed, particularly at this price point. While I can appreciate that quality ingredients and good cooking come at a cost, I believe the serving sizes should better reflect the price being charged.

The flavors are authentic and enjoyable, but the lack of generosity in portions leaves a sour note. Dining out should feel fulfilling, and it’s frustrating to leave feeling unsatisfied after paying a premium price. I truly hope the restaurant reconsiders its pricing and portioning to better match the quality of the food they serve because the taste deserves more credit. With just a bit more attention to these details, this place could easily become...
