Tiger Char Koay Teow 老虎炒果條
Char Koay Teow (Duck Egg, Spicy) = RM10.00 Kopi-O-Kosong (No Sugar) = RM3.20 No Service Charge
This CKT Stall used to be located in the Ping Hooi Kopitiam but it has shifted to OO White Coffee Kopitiam.
I see this name pop up often when doing my research for Penang Char Kway Teows. Some people even swear that THIS is the Original Best CKT in Penang.
Run by what looks like a Father and Son Team which was surprising because in other People's Reviews or Youtube Videos of this CKT, its either an Older Elder Man, or an Auntie with a Young Lady. I reckon this is either a Family Run Business or a CKT Franchise I guess? Anyway, they are Friendly, but mostly keep to themselves.
In Older Photos or Videos of this place, there is also a Very Adorable Signboard they have adorned on their Stall that looks like a Child's Drawing of a Tiger? Unfortunately, I did not see it anywhere here in this Stall though.
Give them your Table Number after you ordered and pay. Once Ready, it will be served to your Table. Took about 2 Mins to be served up.
Char Kway Teow (Duck Egg, Spicy) = RM10.00
The First Thing I noticed is that Amusingly, the Plate they use to serve their CKT actually belonged to a Chicken Rice Stall? Even in Old Photos or Videos, they also use this Same Exact Plate. I would LOVE to know the Story behind this!
Its not a Very Big Plate but I reckon is just nice for 1 Person. Very Nice Savoury Fragrant Wok Hei Fried Smell when served. Comes with 2 Pieces of Big Fat Prawns, Pieces of Duck Eggs, some Scallions and Pieces of Cockles. First Bite of it, the CKT has a Nice Savoury, Not Light but also Not Heavy Sweetish Taste to it. Chilli is not Very Spicy at all but does brings a Mild Undercurrent of Spiciness Heat with every Bite.
The Duck Egg Pieces are Soft to the Bite although I didn't think their inclusion really made the Dish any more Special. The Blood Cockles they use here are Standard Sized and are Noticeably Bigger than the Super Mini Baby ones used in Siam Road CKT.
The 2 Prawns were a Main Highlight as they were So Fat, Juicy and Bouncy to the Bite. One Ingredient thats noticeably missing is Lup Cheong. I did not see a Single Piece of it in this CKT. This is the Only CKT Stall that I've eaten in Penang so far that doesn't have Lup Cheong.
Also, this is the 1st Time I've actually tasted Scallion in a CKT which was quite surprisingly as it brought about a Quick Shot Hit of Scallion Veggie Freshness. For some reason, I've never tasted Scallion in other CKTs i've eaten, but I tasted them very prominently here.
Kopi-O-Kosong (No Sugar) = RM3.20
This is of course from the Kopitiam Drink Stall. I like this. Has a Very Deep Robust Taste without Too Strong Siap Siap. This is a Pretty Strong Coffee that will certainly Wake You Up in the Morning. Good Coffee.
Conclusion and Closing Thoughts
At RM10.00 (S$3.00), I would say this is a Small Sized, but Competently Well Made Plate of CKT, although I personally wouldn't purposely come to Penang and Queue Hours just for it.
In fact, I'm very surprised that there are Little to No Queue for this Stall despite being so Highly Regarded in Online Reviews. The Patrons in this Kopitiam were much more interested in other Stalls. Perhaps their Old Fans and Customers are also not aware of their Change of Location?
The Little to No Queue at this Tiger CKT was a Very Stark Contrast compared to the 50 mins Queue I endured for Siam Road CKT although to be fair it was Lunch Time when I was there and that was Michelin rated after all.
Overall, I'd say this is Not Bad and Definitely Well Made can try, but don't expect to be Completely Blown Away by this. Hahaha, I was actually more impressed with the Kopi-O-Kosong that I had here. Also, it was a pity I didn't get to see that Adorable Child's Drawing of that Cute Tiger Signboard they used to have!

-it’s one of those spots that quietly delivers everything you love about a true Malaysian breakfast experience. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted and guided to a cozy table, which instantly set the tone. The system here is pretty unique but efficient: food is ordered directly at the hawker stalls out front (don’t forget to mention your table number), while drinks are handled by the café staff in brown uniforms. It keeps things running smoothly, and despite the busy crowd, service was quick and friendly.
I tried the steamed kaya toast and their polo bun, and both were spot on. The kaya toast was pillowy soft and generously slathered with that creamy, fragrant kaya and a slab of butter, simple but incredibly satisfying. The polo bun had a sweet, crumbly crust and a warm, fluffy center. One of the better ones I’ve had recently. Paired all that with their signature OO white coffee, which is strong, thick, and aromatic.
This place may not be fancy, but that’s its charm. It’s all about honest food, great coffee, and that nostalgic kopitiam vibe that locals have loved for generations. If you're in Penang and want a proper local breakfast, OO White Coffee should be...
Read moreI'll start with white coffee, as someone from Ipoh, the origin of white coffee, I don't have high expectations since generally the coffee in Penang is bad. I have been longing for a good cuppa so dropped by when I passed by the area. Tastes is average as best, better than the coffee you found in Penang but can't compare to the town of it's origin. Price wise, it's RM3.90 not including RM0.23 SST which 4 months ago it's just RM3.70 (sans SST) from other users photos of their free l receipt. For white coffee, if you're from Ipoh, just wait till you go back home instead for a much better cup at 1-1.5 ringgit cheaper and much better taste and environment.
Location and atmosphere: it's hard to find parking if you're not an early bird. I'm there at 8am and still plenty of street parking and empty seats, but inside feels like seating in an oven, definitely not a good place to enjoy your cuppa.
Tried beef noodles and it's good with thick broth at RM16. A bit pricy but it's labeled clearly so nothing to...
