When comes to food, it always gets down to personal preference such as taste bud and how well we know the authenticity of a dish of any cuisine. I tried a few Char Koay Teow which was highly recommended on social media but sadly it just didn't work up to our expectations (we were a group of 4 (born & brought up in Msia). We tasted around 3 CKT from different places & stalls, taste wise very mediocre. I happen to just drive past a busy coffee shop with various different hawker stalls serving local dishes which was located close to the hotel we stayed and decided to give it a try. I can now happily tell y'all that this is one of the BEST Char Koay Teow I've tried in Penang. This stall is managed by a father and daughter duo, really friendly and accommodative to take special orders like 'extra spicy' etc. My wife & I ordered just 1 plate to share but I ended up having 2 plates to myself). The taste was consistent when I ordered the second plate. Despite having many orders, they took note of every customer's preference which was a real plus point. The heat (chilli), salt from the soy sauce and char was on point. Will definitely go back for this delicious CKT again because as I type this, my mouth is still watering from the memory of its taste!! Highly...
Read moreI finally tracked down Heng Kee’s famous char koay teow at the corner stall on Presgrave Street—and wow, it didn’t disappoint. Even late in the evening when some stalls were winding down, this one was still going strong.
The wok hei hit was intense: smoky, slightly charred, and infused with seasoning that elevated each noodle strand. Plump prawns, tender Chinese sausage, crisp bean sprouts, and well-balanced noodles—all working together in real harmony. The heat level was mild to moderate, perfect for my palate but easily adjustable if you want more kick.
Portion size was generous for a hawker stall—enough to satisfy without feeling guilty afterward. The uncle manning the wok worked tirelessly, efficiently firing up each plate with confidence.
Sitting at one of the shared tables on Presgrave Street, I enjoyed the lively evening hawker atmosphere — locals chatting, the sizzle-filled air, and friendly banter all around.
If you’re craving classic Penang-style char koay teow, this stall is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back to hunt down this flavor...
Read moreA must-try for tourists and char kway teow enthusiasts. Store owners were very amicable and cordial. Under their recommendation, I ordered their best selling char kway teow. The generous servings were very mouth-watering and looked spectacular. Upon trying, I was pleasantly surprised by how savoury and flavorful the kway teow was. I then proceeded to devour my plate. I was impressed by the top notch quality and taste. This is the definition for Penang street food. Together with the awesome hawker atmosphere and vibe, in my opinion, this place is one of the best place to get the best street food experience in Penang. Be sure to try it out when you...
