While some may label this establishment as serving 'Authentic Thai food,' my experience leads me to believe otherwise. With a plethora of Thai restaurants in Penang, this one falls short, I regret to say.

The Steamed Lala Lemon (with mud) was particularly disappointing. The sauce appeared dark, likely due to grit from the mud present after steaming. Instead of discarding the water, they incorporated it into the sauce, resulting in a distinctly muddy flavor with no hint of lemon. The Claypot Glass Noodle with prawn was average at best. It lacked the fragrant notes of ginger, garlic, peppercorns, and cilantro that one would expect. Additionally, the portion size was meager, suitable for only one person, yet the price remained the same as other Thai restaurants serving standard-sized portions. Coconut Seafood Otak-Otak as depicted in the menu, but to my disappointment, the lady boss informed me that they had run out of coconut that day (well we came for dinner early). Lastly, the Sambal Petai contained an excess of chicken meat with minimal shrimp.

Overall, while the restaurant may attempt to replicate Thai recipes, the execution falls short of expectations.

Despite the culinary shortcomings, I must commend the restaurant for its friendly service and the picturesque view.

  1. overall - pretty sea view, do plan to visit during sunset, wonderful environment, open air and air cond room available, fast and kind service, reasonable price, plenty of food selection, plenty of seating and parking, opens during lunch and dinner for Tan Jetty Thai Food Restaurant
  2. salted egg mantis prawn was not bad, very generous portion on salted egg chunks, fresh mantis prawn, well balanced flavour
  3. Stir fry To-Miew was good, portion too small for our guest, overall tasted good
  4. pandan chicken tasted okay with good portion of marinated chicken breast
  5. chestnut drink was very refreshing especially when we visited the place during lunch
  6. Thai iced tea was okay, tasted a little too sweet for our liking.
  7. Tom yam deep fried fish was awesome, fish was fresh, Tom yam broth associated with the fresh fish was superb, next trip will order steam fish instead of fried fish, bet it...

This is my second time dining here in two consecutive nights, and both experiences were simply outstanding.

The food was absolutely succulent and delicious, the ambience was peaceful and relaxing, and the seaside view was fantastic.

On the first night, we ordered pork knuckles, deep-fried fish with mango salad, sambal petai, and Tom Yum soup. • The pork knuckles were perfectly crispy and incredibly delicious, with just the right portion for two, made using the front leg. • The deep-fried fish was fresh and crispy, beautifully paired with the tangy mango salad — a truly wonderful combination.

On the second night, we had Thai-style steamed fish, seafood otak served in the husk, and seafood tung hoon. Every dish was excellent and exceeded our...
