I would say it is a hard to find place (since we didn't use Waze), but it was worth the adventure. As a Penangite myself, I find this shop very attractive because it has a decent collection of Journaling Supplies (washi tapes, stamps, stickers, journals, but no pens though) that aren't too pricey. The stamps range from RM5 - 15 each and the washi tapes range from RM7.90 - RM23 (some come in packages of 6,8,10 rolls). They also have some other goods but I think the mini wardrobe of washi tapes was my favourite part of the tiny store. Overall it has a nice ambience, music and lighting. Plus it is air-conditioned and has a few seats next to a mini "cafe", it also has a heritage feel. Customer service was good, they were polite and or not intruding or persistant but rather "I'm here to answer all your questions" kinda staff. Even though it was small and "one-floored", but it was definitely cosy. It takes about 30 minutes to go through the store, unless you want to look at every washi tape and stamp they have (like me) then you will probably be there for an hour. For me, I bought a RM18.90 packet of 8 rolls (2m each) of washi tape. That's all, I hope anyone reading this...
Read moreGreen, roomy cafe tucked away between grungy workshops with some unique offerings! They put the "wa" in waffles and warung, I guess.
If you enjoy waffles, you'll like this place. They serve a decent variety of sweet and savoury waffles, reminiscent of Piknik, but their waffle sandwiches pack more of a punch this time.
One suggestion would be to upgrade the cheese from bland cheese slices to something with more texture and flavour - a nutty Swiss like Jarlsberg or strong cheddar could be a game changer.
Coffee is fragrant and there's a special Orange Black blend that I rather like. I'll let you guess what's in it. It might be sinfully sweet, but it ain't full of convicts, that's for sure.
Pricing is standard café level and portion size is fair. Seating is a little limited, but I suppose there's a nice retail area up front for you to browse while you wait.
They appear to have hired a cat, but the little guy was probably working fur-iously in the kitchenette during lunch rush so all I saw was a photo of the chonky fella. Definitely worth a visit!

Read moreIf you love Belgian waffles, this is the place to go to in Penang. Thick waffles that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside are served in a large variety of creations from the sweet ice cream and fruits to the savory smoked duck. These fantastic waffles can be washed down with a variety of coffee, tea and fruity carbonated concoctions offered as well.
In addition to food and drinks, the cafe also has a dedicated section to eclectic goods from stationary to home decor and everything in between. The owner and staffs were very welcoming with friendly greetings and goodbyes. The cafe is located in a heritage building that still retains the charm from simpler times, and serves as a getaway from the madness of the modern world we live in.
I want to make a special call-out to the friendly resident feline that's very good tempered, and sits next to the entrance welcoming visitors akin to a prosperity cat. I'll be looking forward to my next visit for the food,...
