Update: My wife and I keep coming back here because the food is simple, yet tastes great, and can be tailored to your taste without losing its integrity. The boss is kind and extremely patient with us and explains the dishes to those like us who may not be familiar with every ingredient. On this visit we had the deep fried fish with three taste chilli sauce. Absolutely delicious. What a symphony for the taste buds. The fish was fresh and we got a portion size just right for two. The Bai Liang with egg was our favourite of the meal - fresh Thai greens and silky smooth eggs. The claypot tofu seafood was also quite tasty but could do with a tad more seafood. A super dinner washed down with a chilled Singha and an iced Lemongrass juice. Combine that with attentive service and extremely reasonable prices, and you have a winner. We'll be back soon 😋👍🍻. Older review: This is the best Thai meal I have had in Penang. Top that with the gentleman boss who takes pride in his offerings and makes time to understand, explain and suggest in that order. Since my wife and I can manage moderate spice levels we ordered the Red Curry with Duck and Lychee, the Chicken Pad Thai and two pieces of the Pandan Chicken. The curry was a superb pick made on the suggestion of the boss. Just the right amount of spice with generous slices of duck, lychee and veggies. The Pad Thai was sweet and savoury and landed on the right spots of our taste buds. The winner however, had to be the delectable Pandan Chicken. Succulent, fragrant and just right. This is a humble place with no pretences of being anything else. That's how I added it all up to a perfect score of five stars 🌟 🤩 😋

A Taste of Thailand in Penang That Feels Like Home🌙 First time visiting, and this little gem instantly won my heart. From the moment we walked in, the owner (Hunky Bro💪) greeted us with such warmth—she even noticed we were first-timers and kindly suggested their signature Tom Yum Goong, asking if we could handle spice level. It felt less like a restaurant and more like dining at a friend’s house. Let’s talk about that Tom Yum Goong—it’s the definition of authentic. The broth hits with bright acidity and a gentle spicy kick, layered with the earthy fragrance of lemongrass and galangal. What stole the show? Plump, crispy onions and tender squid chunks hidden inside—they add such a delightful crunch and freshness, making every spoonful exciting. I even found myself sipping the last drops and wanting to mop up the broth with rice (don’t judge, it’s that good). Don’t skip their Pad Thai either? Wait, no—the Bean Paste Kangkung (stir-fried water spinach) is a must. The sauce is savory, with a subtle fermented depth that’s perfectly balanced, and the kangkung stays tender-crisp—no overcooked mush here. It’s the kind of dish that makes you go, “Wow, this is exactly how it should taste,” and pairs like magic with steamed rice. From the heartfelt service to the spot-on flavors, Urai Thai Kitchen feels like a labor of love. If you’re in Penang craving genuine Thai comfort food, look no further—this is the spot. 🍜✨

My Sis introduced me to this place. Although parking has been quite challenging but I’ve made it finally! It’s very local style small shop with small tables max can squeeze 6 people for round tables so it’s best to call for reservations to avoid disappointment and long waiting with mosquitoes outside 😅 Here’s what we tried tonight: 1. Coconut Otak Otak ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I’ve my fair share of seafood coconut Otak Otak over several Thai food eateries (a must order for me) but THIS tops No. 1! Not only it is full of flavour, creamy and generous ingredients, I LOVED how they scraped the coconut meat to cook together with the Otak Otak it’s sooooo heavenly good. This is the dish that would make me crave for it and just come for it alone feels worth it all! ✨ 2. Stir Fry Kailan with Salted Fish ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Strong salted fish aroma however it is slightly salty but it’s alright to go with white rice. 3. Fried Fish in Kheng Som Soup ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - It’s not too spicy and full of vegetables however they only have Siakap fish no better choice. 4. Bai Liang with Eggs ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Silky smooth egg to go with Bai Liang vege. It’s delicious and special. Overall it’s a great place, I would loved to visit again, even for its Coconut Otak Otak solely. There’s no service charge or SST.
