Tucked in a cozy corner, Pinwheel Resto Cafe offers a relaxing and inviting atmosphere that makes it a charming spot for those seeking a quiet pause in their day. Though the space is modest in size, the ambience is thoughtfully curated—simple, warm, and calming. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind with a cup of coffee or get some work done without feeling rushed.
Service is definitely one of the cafe's strong suits. The staff, particularly the floor attendant during my visit, was attentive and genuinely accommodating. I appreciated how she regularly checked in to ensure everything was in order, offering assistance and even proactively asking for feedback—an approach that elevates the customer experience and reflects well on the management.
However, the food and drinks left me with mixed impressions.
I tried their pesto pasta with grilled chicken, which, while generously portioned, was underwhelming in flavour. The pesto lacked the signature depth and aroma typically brought by fresh basil and good olive oil. I noticed some nut fragments, but the taste of pine nuts or walnuts didn’t come through. It’s likely that a ready-made pesto paste was used. The grilled chicken on top was a good addition in terms of protein, but it leaned on the dry side and missed the succulence I was hoping for.
I also ordered a flat white, expecting the usual rich texture and the balanced intensity of a ristretto-based espresso. Unfortunately, the drink tasted thin and more akin to an over-extracted espresso or a diluted americano. This was disappointing because the coffee beans had noticeable cocoa notes, which could have been highlighted better with proper preparation.
Lastly, I sampled their pistachio cake. While the flavour was pleasant, the texture was a bit dry—something that a more moist crumb or richer frosting could easily improve.
Overall, Pinwheel Cafe Resto has a lot going for it: commendable service, a relaxing space, and potential in its food and beverage offerings. With a few adjustments in the kitchen—especially with regard to flavour depth and technical execution—it could easily rise to become a standout neighborhood cafe. Still, for the ambience and hospitality alone, it’s...
Read moreTo start, and the positive part, the espresso drinks are exceptional and the latte art unique… but…. When I was there, and as a review should this includes all aspects of the experience, I encountered a bit of what I would describe as an egregiously bad business practice. I had ordered a HOT expresso drink of which the person taking the order repeated back to me and the person I was there with, and made another order for, clearly heard. What I received was a cold iced version of the drink. Now I would have thought it a simple mistake in language interpretation, but to correct this I had to purchase another drink, which I did politely, and my previous drink was given to someone else at my expense as I was told the receipt they kept for their own use to give the person preparing the drink said I ordered a cold drink, so the barista did get the drink right, but was given the wrong instructions. The server later came up to my table and apologized for the error, but the person at the counter who took the order remained arrogant about the whole matter; the whole time I remained nothing but polite and civil and raised not a single protest. Normally I would have given this cafe 5 stars with an excellent review, as the espresso drinks are really outstanding, but as a lesson in business relations, I must unfortunately give a low review, I would give a negative one if I could, for which I apologize for but it is my...
Read moreAn absolute nightmare with this place. Let me start by the seating area that is very congested and each table is very close to one another making the access very difficult and uncomfortable. The tables definitely needs to be spaced amongst one another. Next would be their aircond water leakage that drips on my mother that was sitting across me. Imagine dining in and having aircond water leaking upon you. Please get it fixed. Third, I'll definitely have to talk about their staff that is under-trained. I asked for the directions to the washroom but the staff replied that there isn't a washroom in the restaurant. I was in utter shock, what type of food store does not provide washrooms? Apparently it was just the employee that isn't aware of it. How can one slack off that badly? Moving on,I had ordered their rosemary chicken that was undercooked. For the price you offer, you sure as hell should be able to pull off a grilled chicken, but unfortunately,I guess not. Nevertheless, the sauce that came along with it was good. I had also ordered their spicy chicken and it was disappointing.Tasted like diluted tomato puree with lots of sugar making it sweet. Simply unpleasant. Overall,I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless they actually took major measures to ensure quality in their food and service. I also appreciate Mr.Abbas for checking in on us at the end of our meal to ask of the food. I hope he makes the...
