Crab Roe Siew Mai = RM7.80 Fried Carrot Cake = RM6.50 Egg Tart = RM5.80 Service Charge = RM2.01
This is a Dim Sum Restaurant located within the TF Value-Mart Mall in Bukit Indah. It's quite a Big Spacious Place, Not Air-Conditioned and uses a Pencil Writing System to Order. While the Place is quite Airy, I noticed alot of Flies buzzing about. Not sure if it was because of an Earlier Rain.
Crab Roe Siew Mai = RM7.80
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to Deduct Points for this, because I spotted the Service Staff actually touching the Siew Mai when he was handling it over to me. Eek!! If you are the Squeamish type you might have already left this place in a hurry!
Assuming that you can still stay on, the Siew Mai looks Good, Smells Prawny and Meat is Fat, Juicy and 肉肉. Above our Singapore S$1.50 点心 Standard, but lose to 大四喜 Dim Sum in Terms of Quality. Just compare the 2 Siew Mai and you can tell. 大四喜 version although smaller Elegantly showcases their Prawns, while this one is just a Big Fat Ball of Meat.
Fried Carrot Cake = RM6.50
Now THIS I really like. Thank God the Service Staff never touched this one. This Carrot Cake got Standard, not the Cheapskate Carrot Cake that we're used to. The Cakes themselves are Beautifully Arranged and Presented.
Fried Skin is Beautifully Crispy and the Carrot Cake Meat itself is Sublime! Soft almost like Pudding and Almost Melt in Mouth Quality. This is an Excellent Dim Sum Standard Carrot Cake. Doesn't have a Overly Strong Carrot Cake Aftertaste. The Sambal given for this is also not bad. Strong and Chunky Hae Bee which pairs very well. I consider this Dish their 招牌菜 here. This is a Definite MUST TRY.
Egg Tart = RM5.80
I ordered this because some Reviews on Google Maps claim that this is very good. I was initially quite intrigued by its Bubbly Outer Skin, but after actually tasting it, I think its just Average. Its a very Small Egg Tart, Crust is Crumbly, and Sadly the Eggy Filing is the Firm Type.
This is at best only a Bakery Standard Egg Tart, not a Dim Sum Standard one. Sweetness is not bad, not too sweet. If taken as a Bakery Egg Tart is considered acceptable, but no, this has no place in a Dim Sum Restaurant. I even think they probably Sub-Contracted this from a 3rd Party Bakery as I don't think they made this inhouse themselves. And no, luckily the Service Staff never touched this one too.
I really enjoyed the Fried Carrot Cake and it really is Very Good, but the rest of the Dishes are just So So. And yea...having the Service Staff touch my Food when serving is a Big No No. This Restaurant really needs to provide more training to their Staffs. At least they're Friendly so consider 还有得救.
I still feel my previously reviewed 大四喜 Dim Sum will still be Better Value for your Money though. But do try their Fried Carrot Cake if you have the chance.

Came here on a fellow foodie’s recommendation which is an easy morning drive close to woodlands causeway. Its a casual coffee shop environment with a partial air conditioned section where we sat but you can dine al fresco too.
I left it to my foodie friend to order as he comes here often. We had Har Gao, Char Siew, Chee Cheong Fun, Liu Sha Bao and the star of the show, Shark’s Fin Dumpling Soup. The latter was highly recommended by my foodie friend which turned out to be spot on! Except for the Liu Sha Bao ( Ive had better ones in Sg) all the dishes shone, and were truly value for money. The Shark’s Fin Dumpling Soup is a must have - its a bowl of flavourful chicken broth with shrimps, scallops , mushrooms, some shark fin in a silky smooth wanton skin . I haven’t come across anything like it in SG.
Another item that shone was the Cantonese roast meat Char Siu which was well marinated, fragrant & delicious. Total bill was RM 73.70 which is a mere SGD 24.44.
Parking was ample, service was attentive & quick, & the interior ( & toilet ) reasonably clean. Its easily accessible from singapore & extremely affordable given our exchange rate. This is definitely worth checking out on your next visit to Johor Bahru for both quality & value for money Dim Sum that touches your...
Read moreUpdated 29 Dec 2024 Restoran Changman is a solid option for budget-conscious diners, conveniently located next to a mall. While you can enter directly from the road, I recommend sitting inside the mall to enjoy the cooler, air-conditioned environment—though be prepared for curious glances from shoppers descending from the upper levels. The food here offers some noteworthy highlights. The Siew Mai is delicious, with a generously packed filling that feels hearty and satisfying. The Har Kao, while flavorful and well-stuffed, has a thicker skin than I personally prefer. Unfortunately, the Steamed Pork Ribs were a letdown—too much fatty meat and a lack of authentic flavor diminished the experience. Similarly, the Steamed Chicken Leg was overly artificial in taste, and I wouldn’t order it again. The Ju-Pu, on the other hand, is decent and offers good value if you’re dining with two people. It’s a fair choice to round out a meal without straining your budget. Overall, while there are some misses on the menu, the pricing and certain standout items like the Siew Mai and Har Kao make this a worthwhile spot for anyone seeking affordable dim sum. With a bit of careful ordering, you can enjoy a satisfying meal without...
